Hi guys,

I was talking to a mate in the US today about wiring up an xbox to my ICC and he told me that a friend of his uses a car audio installer there with gear that sounds like it'd on work on our ICCs. They're a portable 12v DVD player that has a VGA output and also plays divx AND media from USB flash drives. He thinks they are about $100 (USD) but considering the 2 main alternatives - RGB converter + a dvd player or an inverter + xbox these sound like a bargain for getting dvd/divx/mp3 into our Ts.

I'm trying to get more more info, but I'm going to get him to mail me one across. With postage and the currency conversion it'll probably still be under $150.

Can anyone think of a reason this wouldn't work ?

I guess worst case scenario I could still use it with a RGB converter or get a 12vdc plug pack and use it home.

Cheers

Jay

ICC does not have VGA inputs

Several people have connected PCs with VGA output.

I guess it's just a matter of whether this unit will automatically adjust the right sort of VGA output. If it's designed as a stand alone unit to work on a VGA monitor I imagine (hope!) it would auto adjust itself properly...

I'm going to watch this thread very closely and I very much hope it works, I currently have a pc connected to my icc with a cable made using pandas wiring diagrams but I had to buy a arcade vga graphics card to get it to work correctly. If that dvd automatically adjusts to out screens that would be awesome.

Yeah fingers crossed bogan! If it works I think alot of people will be interested!

OK I just got some pics of the unit and I'm impressed! I was thinking it'd probably be a bit ugly and I was planning to put it in the glovebox or somewhere out of sight but it actually looks pretty nice and the black and silver would probably blend in nicely in the tissue box location. All the wiring is at the back of the unit too so that's handy for installing neatly if it does go in the tissue box location.

one problem....if it does fit in the tissue box area you wont be able to put a disc in it. cause it is top loading style. if anywhere it may fit in the glovebox.

good luck though

I'm going to can the idea for now.

I bought a HDD media player (with VGA output) a while ago so I just gave that a go but it doesn't work. I dunno if it was a PAL/NTSC thing or more the wrong VGA signal but the picture was all scrambled on the ICC so this other unit will probably be the same. Bugger.
