hey guys just a quick question, im gettin bf mkll xrt6 verysoon and I wantd to know if I get a new set of rims will it slower the car in anyway? due to the wieght gain? id say it would only be 100kg more? 20" for instance :S

ive got a moded el atm n when I put the 18's on her I notice she was a hell of a lot slower off the mark... but then again theres totally diff power compared to the turbo..

I think if you get the right profile tyres to keep the diameter of the new wheels the same as the old ones it wont make a huge difference in acceleration times. The extra weight will be minimal as well unless you get a set with huge spokes and no gaps between them.

I went frm 17's to 20's. the difference was buggerall on std power.... I wouldnt worry.

size does matter. depends what you are trying to achieve. I run 17"x9" rear and 17"x8" front. +38 offset and on the regular street it handles excellent. bigger rims=less sidewall=harder ride. Formula 1 cars, infact most motorsport cars run some decent sidewall. it is just as important as shock absorbers and a sensible ride height in my view. BUT, this is if you are chasing PERFORMANCE. I can tell you there are some downsides too. Looks, 17" rims are small these days. like getting out of the pool in winter in your speedo's at a the female swedish bikini team convention small! also forget running big brakes. the big wheels are better for that.

I am wanting to get 19s but I am only an apprentice and therefore cash is an issue.. so 18s might have to be the option. but do use reckon they are still to small or if I lower it do u think it will look alright. thanks.
