I believe it is a design feature of the car it comes with a free clunk to let you know that the diff is still there.

Ahhhh...Ford told me it was normal but couldn't give me an explanation as to why.

haha..... yeah well I booked my car into ford today and ill see what they say if they spin some sh*t to me about how they do not know what it is I will just take it to preston autos get my auto done and then see what they say about the diff

an easy way to see if its your diff bush is to get the car up on ramps, then push the diff upwards where the backing plate bolts on. if it gives off a nice clunk then that's your problem. you gotta give her a nice shove but, its heavy! if there is no movement then its inside the diff or the driveshafts.. when under mine with it in neutral I can move the tailshaft around a cm!!
