I have about 270-280 rwkw with T5 and stock clutch. I noticed this faint rattle happening in third gear without even flooring it. This rattle became more louder and started happening in 3rd 4th and 5th and just today this rattle became loud and sounded more like a grinding noise and I could feel it in the stick.

If my box is going, wouldnt my clutch have gone first?

Thanx

Depends on how your box has been treated, slamming gears, and driving like a wanna be fangio could have screwed it (not accusing you of either) :spoton: how your cars been treated really. Might have been the rev dump with traction control on :stirthepot: Or you could have a dud box ect

I only clutched second a handful of times when I first got the car until my clutch slipped then I stopped. Now I wait till im in the gear and then I give it a bootful. Iv never wacked gears and treated it rough.

Its nothing to do with the way you shift gears, its the fact that you are putting a huge amount of torque through a gearbox that was built to handle alot less power.

They dont call them "the glass box" for nothing... Time for a T56 champ.
