Ase Intercooler Installed...

Just finished installing my ASE cooler on my new car....

History;

I installed the cooler myself in my Mk1 ute. I located it as far to the left of the car as possible. The condenser lines were stopping it being located any further. Had to grind a very small amount from the crossmember for the right end of the cooler to clear it. Supplied brackets had to be bent a small amount to suit.

Today;

Installed the same cooler into my MkII sedan. This time I bent the condenser lines out of the way. I was then able to mount the cooler in the center, and it has no problems clearing the crossmember. There's mm's in it, but it clears it.

Had to drill 3 holes, bend the supplied brackets a little, and the condenser lines.

Voila, ASE cooler installed. Centered and with NIL grinding. Gotta be happy with that.

Oh, and as a sidenote I am now running with X-Force 3 1/2 inch exhaust, cold air + filter, intercooler, and unmodified tune. No hint of overboost. Holding a steady 4.5psi of boost.

And keeps up with 297 Clubbies with ease.

Got a 3 1/2 inch metal cat to go on, so till then I'm going to gut my Xforce cat and see if that induces overboost errors.

Will get pics soon. Didn't think to take any of the install. My bad :thumbsup:

I don't know with the ASE cooler, but when Mick and I installed my PWR the condenser was a pain, until we realised you could just undo it and mount it in reverse. Well done anyway.

Have you sold that XEDE yet?

It should look really good centred - the one thing that pees me off is the off-centre coolers on the XR6Ts and Typhoons. It just looks wrong - like an afterthought, or something not planned properly in the beginning.

C'mon, hurry up with the damn pics!

He's almost as slow as his old man, hey Jeff. :thumbsup:

On the centred intercooler comment, I agree. The best cooler from a visual point of view goes is what MrTurbo has on his citric. Looks tops.

Here's some pics. When I said it was close, I meant it was CLOSE.

And it's not quite centered... But my definition of centered is pretty loose ;)

Crap, you can reverse it? Oh well...

And yeah, XEDE is gone. :thumbsup:
