ring extreme and ask about there xtra heavy duty clutch. they can further customise it to your needs aswell for stuff all extra pennies.

I got a full custom jobby that clamps 1650kg pressure for $860 and its never slipped once.

they were awesome to deal with to, no screwing around and to the point.

Hi guys

My clutch has finally decided to slip. I have a mk1 5 speed and was wondering what is the best price that I can get.

Looking at the extreme clutch or Mal Wood stage 3.

Maybe the site sponsors can jump in with help.

I dont need an over the top clutch just one that can handle 300rwkw.

Thanks

Adrian

Adrian,

I can supply a New 10.5'' high/performance clutch kit to suit this application with or without a Billet Steel flywheel. The 10.5'' clutch kit with an organic disc and a Pressure plate with 2650lb clamp will hold around 250 rwkw but you will be stretching the friendship at 300 rwkw.

The T5 will fail at around 260-280 rwkw if it is driven hard, if you want your car to drive smooth and don't want to replace a gearbox don't go any further than 250-260 rwkw.

The Clutch kit I have mentioned will cost you $693 plus $395 for a Billet steel Flywheel.

Another part that you should look at replacing is the CSC ( the CSC is the hydraulic slave cylinder) the factory Ford item is a Plastic one and we often find that these fail and we have been replacing these with the AP brand Alloy CSC's, these are far superior to the Ford item and are Much cheaper at $225.

The option 3 and 4 clutch kits that you see people refering to will only fit cars running a T56.

I had the Xtreme organic in my car, cost me about 1100 or so. Held the power well, however it didnt like more power.

I am not running a ceramic that is holding just over 320 without any issues.

PS, if you go a ceramic on a std box, expect your box to have issues as mine did. Now im running a Stregthened T5 with hardened gears.

Hi XR6ISM,

Did it cost you much to upgrade your T5??

To be honest with you, I still havent paid for it so I dont know how much it will cost me. Once I have the pricing finalised etc I will post up some details on what I have done to the box, and what other options are available.
