Ba Security System

How good are the security systems in the ba's? The coded key system seems pretty "un-floggable". Has anyone had any trouble with theres or ever heard of a ba being stolen? Has anyone added aftermarket security?

I think Saleen has an aftermarket alarm on his car.

I have the fully integrated aftermarket Mongoose system which is darn good, doesn't misbehave, uses normal remote key fob and us around $550ish.

I have a wynn's job which was fitted pre delivery of the car. Works off the factory remote and does the trick. It has only gone off once where I could not identify the cause, but there again a cat could have jumped on it and disappeared before I realised.

From memory there was a thread asking has anyone's car been stolen, from memory no one put down that they had previously had their BA stolen... I'd imagine that any additional security you place on it would be more to stop vandalisim rather than theif itself...

Sort of on the topic, This morning I got into my car a little hastily after shutting the garage roller door. As I closed the door it hit my knee which in turn whacked the key in the ignition. The car stopped dead, no dash lights or odometer. It was as if I had no key in the ignition at all, yet it was still in there, and in the "ON" position.

I turned the key off then started it again - no problems. This is the first time anything like this has happened (except when dufus forgot to put it in park before starting :stirthepot: ), and it ran fine the rest of the day.

Weird, man.

Not my current car (BA) but my VCTXR6 (AU) was stolen from my driveway one night. No evidence to say how the pricks got into the car, but they forced the ignition, started it, and drove out the drive.

Anyway...The car stopped 100 metres up the street because the Bosch system looks for a coded key in the ignition. The car didnt have one - off goes the car.

Car deserted by would-be-thieves 100m up the street.

The systems in the Falcons are good and I am sure the BA system is a carry over.

Hi folks,

I'm looking at getting my alarm upgraded with the Mongose upgrade. I was quoted $350. Is this a good price? Anyone living around Syd got a better price?
