Replacement Brakes For Front Only?

hi all

I have had a rattling sound coming from my front pads (pads in their shims) for a while now and ford have a tsb out on it but it does not fix it.

it is only on the front brakes and my question is what is the best rotors and pads just for the front. I do not want to spend too much I just want the rattling fixed which the performance brakes do.

any ideas or specials on at the moment.

Your best bet for rotors would be some replacement DBA ones, either slotted or drilled and slotted, It could still run you close to $800 though with some good pads too.

sh*t that is a little expensive. another question if I get the brake upgrade do I need another spare wheel.

Isn't the actual caliper causing the rattle?

If so then a simple rotor/pad upgrade will not fix the problem.

If you go the PBR/Premium rotors, you will need to make sure you have at least 17" all round, plus the spare.

you are right I would have to replace the whole lot at the front. the pbr set up needs 17" spare, what about the dba set up.

Ummm...DBA just make rotors, which wouldn't fix your problem.

DBA slotted $130 each and pads $120 a pair is a lot less than $800. SHould be able to acquire everything for under $450.

wouldnt I need the caliper or shims I think they are called or is the dba set up everything

Just to clarify:

When just changing rotors or pads, you will not need to change your wheels, or get a 17" alloy spare.

When changing the caliper, rotors and pads you will need to get a 17" alloy spare.
