OK, I've done it. I've bought myself a CAPA Flash Tuner. Have not had the chance to use it yet, but am considering not using it!

There seems to be a lot of problems others are having ie: Traction Control turning itself off, Dash displays disappearing, Soleniods clicking, Rough operation.

XR6T's have been out for about 3 years. Shouldn't the suppliers of these Flash Tuners have them sorted by now?

What other problems are you guys/gals having. If these problems are still around, the suppliers have a "duty of care" under the Fair Trading Act to fix them!

dw....ok from my experiance it is a torque related item that is factory design limitation ie the more torque you produce the more likely the tc will switch off due to not coping

Dash displays disappearing,

dw....1 only case ive heard of and id say the maps were wrong for the aplication?

Soleniods clicking,

dw.... normal function of the way some tuners set up there boost control not a problem and won't cause hastles

Rough operation.

dw....select a good tuner and with custom tune will be right

dw..... not being harsh on the engineers as they do a wonderful job but have ford got it right yet?

Hi Lightningxr6t,

I can't comment on the tunes that come with the unit, but I have the Capa Flash Tuner with a custom tune from HPF and have no complaints at all. Driven sensibly fuel economy is pretty much the same and the power increase is quite impressive. If your a bit hesitant, then a custom tune is cheap insurance. My auto ute made 247rwkw with no other mods. Go for it, you won't be able to get the smile off your face for weeks. :msm:

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Lightningxr6t

I have recently changed from my APS Unichip to the Flash unit and I must say even without a custom tune yet I am impressed.

Yes I got the traction problem in the wet on the first day but I was giving it a bit.

I have found the 8psi tune to be farly good with a little bit of surging but overall a much more ballanced tune than with the APS.

Regards

Craig

I procrastinated about Edit for ages too, but have decided it's the way to go. I've bought a second hand flash tuner but have had to send it back to CAPA to get it unlocked and have the latest maps installed. Having weighed up all the pros and cons (I was going to go with Unichip prior to deciding on Edit) I reckon Edit will suit my needs better.

I just love the ability to have more than one tune available to me and the fact that it's just 'plug and play' ie. no hacking into your wiring loom, etc. :spoton:

I come from Newcastle NSW. Can Ford tell if you have a edit?

yes but cant prove beyond reasonable doubt!

yet I might add!!!!

mkIII/bf brings some changes that we all have concerns with as they have said they have changed the software to stop the use of flash tuners etc well till its cracked again and whether it is true or not?
