August 17, 200521 yr #1 Hey Guys I just had a few questions about the CAPA Edit which I couldnt find whilst searching. Im close to doing it but just need a bit more info. I think this may be useful to other members too. (of course not the ones who have taken the brave step to KW freedom )1) Just with the Edit on a stock T, What Torque figures are we getting? And what is a reasonable power expected. (Ive heard 245rwkw but this seems too high for a stock)2) Do You Recommend Valve Springs?3) Do You Recommend Injectors?4) Should exhaust changes be done before the edit? (Like Hot Dogs and so forth and has anyone with exhaust mods found it too loud with the added boost)5) Where can you recommend to do the edit in Vic and what have you paid for it?6) What 0-100 and QTRMILE times are expected (and be realistic guys)7) For a 6, 8, and 10 psi map, what boost figures are we talking lower in the range and what does the boost tail off to around 5000+ revs. Or am I mistaken, and an edit has 6, 8 or 10psi all the way through the rev range. Any one safely increased the redline. Is it usable revs? or just a waste of time. What RPM if so?Hehehe this is like a test. Anyways, any personal experiences are very muchly appreciated.RegardsAzZa Edited August 17, 200521 yr by AzZaMaTaZ
August 17, 200521 yr #2 1. I would expect a totally stock T to get 240rwkw, which is about 570NM.2. Some cars will need them at 240rwkw, others can go higher, its the luck of the draw. If you only plan to do the Edit, I would say no, but if you are going to do injectors+ then yes.3. See point 2, but you WILL need them if you go above 250rwkw4. The Center muffler removal is more for the sound than performance. the stock exhaust is good for about 290rwkw, but a highflow CAT can make all the difference at any power level.5. Not from VIC, but HPF and Nizpro seem to be highly regarded6. For a totally stock T, I would think high 12's would be possible, but it depends on Auto or Manual and the driver.7. The boost kicks in at around 2500 RPM and rises from there, I cannot comment on the stock maps as they now seem to vary from tuner to tuner.8. I am sure there are a few that have increased their redline, but for a stock car, this would not be recommended or needed. The T has so much torque you do not need to go above 5,000RPM as the torque curve drops after these revs. If you are chasing quick 1/4 times I could see a need to increase the revs to avoid going into 4th gear (auto) over the 1/4, but for the average punter I would not do it. I am also sure Ford can tell the max revs a car has achieved and if you ventalate your motor at 6,500rpm you would have no hope of getting it fixed even if it was a component fault.I hope this helps
August 17, 200521 yr #3 G'Day MateI have the following done to my car.1. 2nd cold air intake2. K & n Filter.3. Edit. a. Valet Tune won't rev over 3000rpm for the missus b. 95 Octane tune when 98 not available 234rwkw c. 98 Tune 249rwkw( Lucky Car)As you can see by my sig I'm not really interested in KW's but more how the car feels.I have been in a few of the forums fast cars as a passenger and this is how I rate the power of each car and you can search the forums to see what's been done to these cars.Stock T........................Fantastic.My Car.........................Awsome.JB's Car........................Outstanding(Manual)Geea's Car....................PHYSCO...............In good way.I saw for me that the edit was all I needed as I do high K's (Munch is 6 weeks old and 8000 on the clock) and still had to keep a secret from SWMBO she only drives it with the valet tune. She doesn't know what all the fuss is about as she thinks her padjero goes better who am I to disagree.Have a look around and then decide what suits you and your budget.RegardsSteve.
