Coolant, Handbrake And Wheel Rim Offset

Featured Replies

#1

Guys and gals, I have three questions, any help is appreciated.

1. Has anyone here changed their own coolant. Any tricks in bleeding the cooling system ?

2. Anyone attempted to do their own handbrake adjustments. I understand how it all goes together but once again anything I should look out for ?

3. Finally does anyone know what the wheel offset is ?

I'm just going to do the work on my car myself as I cannot trust the dealer to do the right job and its money in my pocket anyway.

Cheers, any thoughts are appreciated.

Handbrake adjustment is a good idea if you can do it. My Ford dealer charged me $60 to do mine :innocent:

As the BA range is almost three years old and the warranty period will soon be over, workshop manuals such as Gregorys and such, should soon become available....I can't wait as all work to my car will be done myself....Stuff the dealers

1. Haven't done this on a BA.

2. Done this on an AU which is similar - back the internal adjuster nut at the handbrake lever fully off before you adjust at the wheels. This gives you at least one maybe two more internal adjustments in the future instead of having to take the wheels off every time.

3. Nominally 36mm but can be from 32 to 40.

 Changing coolant is straightforward, there is a drain screw in the LH bottom corner of the radiator. The system does not require any special bleeding, just fill the system to the "Full" on the header tank, then just keep an eye on it while it idles for 10-15 mins(with cap on). it may drop a little, but generally self bleeds.

P.S Do not over tighten radiator cap, as it is not hard to strip the nylon thread on the tank.

Thanks fellas. Goin to try and fix that damn scraping noise from the handbrake while I'm at it too.

Cheers
