Is it possible turtle33 that you are not considering the point that Jeff is making regards to custom tuning?

I do believe - without trying to speak for anyone else - that the edit on its own (generic tunes supplied) has serious weaknesses; but nonetheless is a great starting point for further tuning.  Before anyone questions me on this, I have had the edit in my ute since December 22, and have logged more than 15K so I think I am allowed an opinion on this.

The way I read Jeff's expression of interest is that they are going to offer a full tuning setup not just distribution (which can be done straight from CAPA themselves anyway).  As jeff may remember, I for one would be interested in this custom tuning option at FIST.

Hopefully Jeff can allay any misconceptions about this?

Joel.

as I said,I didnt talk to jeff (if jeff wants to pm me I will tell him who) they fully dismissed the edit and sunk the boot in as well. Its Not what I wanted to or needed to hear. I have the edit and its being tuned this week, my intention has always been to have a custom tune. I dont want to get into he said she said but this conversation turned me away TO the PTE crew. I dont know PTE's experiance with ba's but I have to start some where.I have very specifice requests for the tuning and if the full software was available I would tune it myself.

For example, fixing the god-damn idle once and for all - although it is better than it used to be standard.

This is news to me!!! But you can do a search on my thoughts of the edit and talk to the guys that have been here with the edit and ask them what I think... If you go way back our thoughts were reserved on the idea because we do promote a piggyback ecu and we also are legally bound to sell that product only and if you didnt speak to me you would of got that response....

This is why I am finding out the response to who would want the edit, its so I can go out on my own to supply and tune the edit separate to the company.... The edit is great for most upgrades but there are some piggybacks which allow more applications such as launch control, extra injector drivers, nitrous control, IC water sprayer and others...

Disappointing to hear that you could have had negative feedback from FIST as I have never found that to be the case.

I think I was the frst person to take an edited car to FIST to have it dynoed.

Jeff did not make any comment on the edit (to me or on this forum) before the run, as he wanted to see the product first.

Since seeing the car run, Jeff has been pretty positive in his comments on the product.

$300.00 is the price - when did you get this price?

I don't know then?

I bought the edit throught them, they dyno'd my car, but couldn't custom tune until I replaced the valve springs, which I have done now, I re-checked the price for the custom tune with them while I was there, & the reply was they initially quoted $300, but then found it took longer to tune, so $600 it is. Mines stock apart from 2nd CAI & centre muffler removed, so would it take 5 hours on the dyno??

Let me know if it's different.

All I can say is, Hurry up Jeff!

Custom tuning for the edit is not rocket science for a good tuner, its just like tuning a stand alone ecu.. Some apllications may vary, most tuning rates are around $120- $230 per hour on the dyno, so it would come down to the tuners knowledge and performance to tell what it would cost, I would suggest it should be done in less than 3 hours.....
