Now, this dude proceeded to tell me the AMD's figure eg.3200 actually runs at 3.2ghz, whereas the P4's 3.2 only runs at around 3ghz.

But anyways yeah, I learned a looooong time ago, not to trust salesmen/people.

Having spent most of my life in sales and marketing, it amazes me just how disinterested people are in the products they sell these days. I mean, so much of the time I am fed wrong info that is either a guess, a lie or mix of both. Mostly I let them know the actual facts in a nice enough way and recommend a few websites or forums related to their product where they can increase their own knowledge if they have the slightest interest in actually doing so.

What is clear is that the sales game needs to have the bar raised because buyers are so much more informed than ever before. Using the web and the phone, I usually become a "mini expert" before I even head out to buy whatever it is I am after. Of particular use is forums with problem posts or known issues and that sort of stuff, often I know a brand new model is actually a dud when they are flogging it as you beaut because of the OS experiences with it. Oh well, we only get paid by what we sell and I guess with reps and vendors pushing more and more product through, repair centres closing down left and right because things are becoming a throw away item, why should they actually car anymore?

There was a time when people were a tad more trusting and loyal to the corner shop or the local whatever, these days, if it's cheaper in bloody @$#$%%% town China, then buy it from them direct over the web.

End of the day, it's always buyer beware, but remember, we are the ones driving prices down and wanting the latest a greatest, so who is to blame in the end?

Back in the good Ole days when my ride was an 250 XB falcon, I went looking for an inlet manifold for a 250 2V head (to suit 3x webbers) nobody had them, Lynx used to make 'em but gave up... Anyways 18 something snot behind the counter said "Oh yeah I can get them" I said "no you can't, not made anymore" he argued for a bit and got more than a little shirty at me telling him he was wrong. He then went "out Back" and phoned someone "...got this wa*ker here who recons you can't get blah ..blah " he came back in and said he could get one, I told him that if he could, I'd pay double the list price and he could keep the difference. Out he goes, back on the phone for 10 mins...Comes out and tells me "You can't get them anymore." dumb

The bint in the office at the dyno / parts / service store, They will not let you talk to someone who knows what your talking about. Takes about 5 mins to convince them of the fact.
