We didnt no what was happening so we drove up the street thinking it would go away and he floored the car and it went no where, there was a big loss of power. once we got home we stopped and started againg and it was fine once it startded again.is anyone sure of what the problem was? we got told by ford that it was most proberbly the petrol. has anyone experienced this let me no.thanx Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14292-petrol-problem/ Share on other sites

I have had the same thing and ford keep telling me thay are working on a fix (10 months gone)as for the starting problem, I have no idea Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14292-petrol-problem/#findComment-192930 Share on other sites

But since modding it it has never done it since If it didn't start the first time ,it used to carry on ... restart and everything was fine.Sometimes it would sound like it was running on 3 cylinders with the engine light on..As usual the dealer would not find any codes Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14292-petrol-problem/#findComment-192932 Share on other sites

Once it started to shake the car, I would pull over, stop, put it into Park, then put it back to drive and it was fine. Chris xr6 Member 376 Member For: 21y 1m 20d Location: Shire Posted 01/12/04 10:45 AM Share Posted 01/12/04 10:45 AM I would very much doubt it was overboosting since the car started running rough!more likely a idiosyncracy in the start up!turn the key off, tap the accellerator and start as normal all should be okay! Solution was to turn it off for 30 seconds or so, and then start the car.I wouldn't worry about this unless it became a regular thing. Note - Most tanks have between 5-30 litres of water at any given time but it is only a problem when its disturbed.Reason - b) Hot Fuel - If you live in a Capital City near a refinery.....and as Shell has only just brought Optimax online again.......they are filling the Tanks with Hot Fuel (Just Processed) This can cause problems with your fuel lines creating air bubbles and blockages due to expansion and shrinkage....recently a Servo in Sydney had a line of Vehicles waiting for Fuel....They were delivered Hot Fuel.....all these vehicles started filling up and made it about 100 meters down ther road before the engines stopped. There was a line of about 20 cars all sitting on the side of the road waiting for road service.....and it cost Shell a fortune in repairs. This may have been part of your problem....but even if its not.....take note!!If you ever suspect a problem with fuel....go to your nearest mechanic and get him to take a sample from the drain plug in your tank if there is one fitted......call Customer Service at the Fuel Company and report the matter also advise the Service station of the problem....if they are at fault they will pay for all repairs and replacement fuel. If you like you can also hit them up for damages for lost wages / accomodation & meals when travelling etc......Hope this helps!
