Auto drive-line "thumps" are spoiling my driving pleasure! I had the latest PCM cal updates installed and initially thought this had fixed them. Only difference now is that the driveline can have a few really good days in between the bad ones.

I havent experienced this in a new car previously and can't understand why it could occur one day and not the next. It is certainly wearing me down to the point where I would be struggling to convince myself to get another Falcon.

Basically just trying to work out where to go from here.

Yep, at about 80 or 90 K's if you floor the throttle the auto drops back 1 gear thinks about it drops back another and then bang big thump. I think the time it takes the box to work out whats going on allows a little bit of boost to build and that's why the thump (it brings the traction control light on)

Could also be the Unichip

aztech have you thought about locking it into 4th and manually upshifting for overtaking as that then removes the opportunity for sometimes untidy double change down in kickdown? Found that the best tactic on the Newell recently and a lot easier on the driveline.

That's what I do now, hopefully it will give me a few more k's out of the tranny.

teebone,

Mate. Sounds like the dreaded drive line shunt. Caused by play in the driveline but mainly in the Diff... :spoton:

I have had it after 45,000k's but the diff had other issues so was replaced. Now the new one does it "Some times"

This issue is most common on Manual cars...

Good luck :gooff:
