  1. Hi all, have decided to go with the precision 7685 turbo with high mount manifold and T4 flanges. At this stage looking to get the turbo and manifolds from Rotormaster. Will be getting their quote today for it all. (Shout out to Milan for all his help) Just want to check if any members know of another shop offering the Precision turbo at a good price atm before ordering through Rotormaster.
  2. IMHO a street tyre is whatever you can put on the car, drive it around and not be forced to donate to the policemans ball.... So if it is a semi slick that is legal on the road, I take that as a street tyre. (this does rule out a lot of semi slicks as the profiles do not meet vehicle manufacturer specs) so for a lot of falcons it rules out widths such as 275 etc. Keep in mind the above also means that the tyres meet regs such as tracking and diameter sizes.....I don't see a difference between a high performance low profile tyre and a semi slick other than your sphincter muscle clenches a bit tighter in the wet when using semi slicks....... For me the problem is that the constabulary don't really know what is legal size and what is not, and likely to give you a defect and let you fight it in court. Prior to ordering a set of kumho semi slicks for street use, I went to the local cop shop to check on legal sizes etc, the walloper behind the counter had no idea, but the traffic squad was there and a senior traffic cop from Brisbane as well. Their response was basically crap, and had no idea. Their solution was to send me to the Transport Department to get clarification. Got a full printout of what is legal for tyre sizing etc from very friendly staff. (Grandma behind the counter even asked if I would show her the tyres after fitting and wants to go for a drive in it as her deceased husband was a revhead)!!!!
  3. Hey BAXR, I assume that was for hi psi, I haven’t seen one from ya
  4. Yep I have been known to miss the point sometimes, I guess you have one though when the title is called racewars 2019 and the original post says my car is being fully stripped and rebuilt for racewars 2019....... but hey whatever Don't stress the little stuff in life mate, and if a disagreement about a post title is the biggest problem for either of us this year, its not a bad year. feel free to hang around and offer insights and banter over the next year and a bit.
  5. Differences of opinion are awesome, as the car is now being SPECIFICALLY BUILT FOR RACEWARS 2019 I don't have a prob with the title. Other members are free to contribute what they are building for it or just to throw their 2 cents worth in about racewars or the cars/ppl that enter it.
  6. Yeah true, Its probably a bit subtle for most people to get...... but I will work on it
  7. Okay all, for those that weren't around for the earlier banter with the thread about building a new engine and progressively getting the car down to a 9 sec qtr after I put the piston through the block, That plan has radically changed to a full car strip, paint and build to be ready for Racewars in Albany 2019.... "Cost price work = Oi don't I <3 Bananasin try to rush me to finish it for ya" The new daily driver juicebox (under 2lt) will arrive in a few weeks, and the stripdown of the 05 ba turbo will commence. Pretty much every nut, bolt and clamp will come off. the body will get a healthy amount of attention to smooth out the dimples accumulated over its 12 years of hard living, as well as some lipo suction to get rid of unwanted fat Pretty much every standard part will end up getting binned, so there may be some suitable parts up for sale to ppl that play nice, or can hang sh*t on me that good that I cant come up with a reply..... (choosing and completing option 2 will put you at the head of the queue for old parts!!) Whole arse end will be replaced with a different item, so yep whole back axle with diff, brakes, tailshaft etc will be GONE... front n rear factory seats and the carpet will be going. The car should be at the panel shop before Christmas so other than axles/wheels etc, pretty much what is going to be sold off will be available then (cheap xmas presents) I do travel a fair bit around qld with work, so delivery may also be possible. (My delivery charges go up by 6 pack increments) other than that, delivery would be up to you. Oh and for those of you who consider the paintwork to be the highlight of YOUR build, the car will be resprayed in its original Scared Canary Yellow...... come on, ya not worried about getting beaten by a scared canary are ya
  8. Hey MBF, I agree, any build is a sh*t build CAUSE IT SHOULDA BEEN BLOODY PROPERLY DONE AT THE FRACKIN FACTORY!!! other than that, I will be happy to put my sh*t build up against any other at racewars and back it up with cash..... The Bullsh*t shops when the light pops...... Real men race for cash and slips, only kiddies race for the hell of it.... Your not a little kid pretending to be a grown up are ya Okay everyone, As the decision has been made to scrap the progressive build, and go nuts over the next year with a full strip down of the car for racewars 2019 I'm going to drop off this thread and start a new one Racewars 2019. Feel free to continue the banter there.....
  9. Wow a bit of banter since I logged off yesterday. Sorry Puff, but only kids play at pissing contests... Real men step up and play soggy sao..... Don't worry, when puberty hits, you'll understand what it means hahahaha Apologies BAXR, Puff already has me tapped out with his $20 buck loan till april. Havent seen any repayments yet, so the interest will be accumulating. Hey MBF, nah mate not a pissing contest, but plans have changed radically since the initial thread posting. Was originally meant to be a progressive build over about 3 yrs to end up with a low 9 sec weapon. but after getting hot under the collar about race wars, I decided to bite the bullet and go for a complete strip down and rebuild of the car. Where you jumped into the thread, was basically the amount of money thrown at it over the next year would have most people saying crap a normal bloke cant afford it with the usual living expenses etc. So basically said my financial situation so people know its not just fantasy fumes blowing out my tail pipe, and that the goal is achievable, so anyone with constructive advise knows their not wasting their time if they contribute. Oh and by the way, me mates mum's, younger brothers step sister, would beat you all at a pissing contest.
  10. nothing wrong with a bit of banter mate, any day someone gets me and I don't have a comeback, I'm actually impressed hence my comment to Puff ....... Actually I was just putting it out there so people that read it, realise that for me the goal is actually achievable.... most people would read it and go bullsh*t, how can he afford to do it... he probably has a mortgage yada yada yada.... Marital Status: Was engaged, lost everything 10 yr ago when the crunt decided to sleep with my boys god father... actually did me a favour as since then I haven't had a loan since paying everything off. Height is too short for my weight hence I need a jockey.... 5 years I will probably be major share holder in 3 mechanic shops in central qld and 2 car dealer ships...... I mean I don't spend much money on myself, I drove a 2001 pajero until a farkin emu decided to play chicken with the front end. I bought the turbo with the payout.... other than that I just spoil my boy rotten, and he knows its all left to him when I kick the bucket. Oh and I have various investments around the country which I don't touch and just try to forget about. (small opal and gem mines)
  11. Hey BAXR, I reckon that should build me something tough, reasonably reliable, and no I don't expect to win any trophies, but I reckon I should be able to win a lot of our races. I have a busted back nowadays, but do have a background in setting up street fords for drag racing. EB, EF, AU. The EB was an NA 6cyl, stripped out, air con ripped out, battery in the boot and not exactly slow Never liked the weight of the v8 hanging over the front suspension in the au xr8
  12. support crew = my mechanic, his offsider, me (I'm too old and fat for proper racing) the jockey is 65kg wringing wet, (dates the offsiders sister) my panel beater client, and a couple of other unpaid mates that want to see some real racing, not the bullsh*t crap on tv such as the V8SB (v8 superboring) same cars with different badging basically Hey Puff, no worries, interest is 10% per week Don't miss a payment though or I will stuff up your credit history hahaha I have talked to everyone involved today, and basically when we get the car back to emerald this weekend, its going for a full strip down. It does help having mates/clients that are prepared to work for cost price and no labor so that shaves a bloody heap on the set up. such as paint n panel for the cost of the paint and a bit for the booth, compare that to getting a professional job done including wages and profit. It helps being the biggest insurance broker in a small country town to get contacts happy to help for some stickers on the car etc...... Am I rich? hell no.... Do I have a mortgage, car loan, credit card, personal loan..... NOPE Can I put away $500 a week between now and the end of next year? Yep. Was I planning on going to Thailand next year, Not anymore... So that's about $30k on parts and nothing for labor, and no mark up on prices.... I reckon that would equal about $50k real world. And that's probably conservative on the $20k for labor and mark up.....
  13. Hi BAXR, yep, from what I had been reading, I was going to go to an FG Block and build around a forged bottom end. I have just been checking out racewars.com.au and Obviously I am not going to get there next year, but will design the build around going there in 2019 to give it some good shakedown runs with the 1/2 mile and 1000m runs. I mean its not THAT far from Central Queensland to Albany WA....... with a car trailer and support crew etc. I wonder how many people my mechanic can fit in his trusty old Subaru brumby
  14. Hi BAXRTUTE Liked the thread, damn you have had some issues with yours.... I didn't get all the way through it but if you held up your end of the agreement, I.e. equal spend on holidays-the missus and the car, you must have had some awesome holidays and shall we say other pleasures by now........ We will get the car back to emerald qld this sunday and then will take some photos of the damage for everyone elses amusement.... at this stage we are hoping its just the block and internals, but until we strip it down and access everything, I don't know if any damage was done to the turbo/head etc.
