  1. I had the throttle body cleaned about a year and a half ago so would it need to be cleaned that soon after? I had the battery out the other day and issue still persists so unfortunately that's not the problem.
  2. hi guys, I understand that rough idle is pretty common on the ba turbos but cant help but think mine is a bit worse than the ordinary rough idle. When mine is in drive and I am idle, vibration can be felt through the whole cabin and I can see the drivers side rear view mirror shaking as well. When in neutral everything seems ok. I was told this could be engine mounts, around $1200 to replace through Ford or low idle. A mechanic that drove my car said my car is idling at around 500 where it should be at around 700rpm. Dont really want to spend $1200 if it isn't going to fix the issue. Has anyone had any experience with this, either resolving it by replacing mounts or adjusting the idle?
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Ended up around $2700 for a reconditioned box to be put in cause mine needed parts which would have pushed the price up.
  4. Hi guys Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what it should cost all up to get a gearbox rebuilt on a 2003 xr6 turbo? Driving to work today my car started missing gear and then some grinding noises and transmission fluid spewing out before I turned it off and had it towed. Got it in the shop now at autotech engineering and just waiting to hear if I need a rebuild or not. I've noticed for around the last few months that the car would vibrate throughout when at idle quite badly. Had it checked during last service but the mechanic couldnt work it out. Do you think this could be related and fixed by the rebuild? Cheers
  5. Thanks for that. I reckon that's the way I'll go. Do you know how much I should be looking to pay for the tune and injectors?
  6. Hey guys, this has probably been asked a hundred times and I've tried searching through the forums but cant get exact answers. I've got a 2003 ba xr6 turbo stock at the moment. Had it on the dyno and it's putting out 180rwkw stock. I'm looking to try get a bit more power out of it but am on a bit of a budget cause I want to have some left over for a nice set of wheels. If I were looking to get to around 250-260rwkw what would the best options be? I was thinking maybe of a custome tune, injectors and a k&n air filter. Do you think this would get me to that kind of power and how much should I expect to pay for each of those items? I'm guessing around $1400 for the tune and $700 for injectors?? If I were to look at adding a high flow cat or replacing the exhaust cat back how much extra power would that get me and also what should I be paying? Would I then need to be upgrading other things? Any help is appreciated, cheers!
  7. Hello there. In my ba mk2 xr6 turbo, Over the last 2-3 months I have noticed a click when I turn the wheel. Only seem to hear it when stationary turning or going slow during a half to full turn and its kind of like a single click noise during the turn. Sounds like its coming from the front. Does this sound like a cv joint? Not sure if a cv joint is supposed to make a louder noise that you will hear when driving. If so how much should I expect to pay to get it fixed? Just had to fork out $2600 for a busted fuel tank, repacement sparks and coils and new diff bush and 8 hours labour at $120 an hour ao hope its not too rich
  8. Hey Guys Just after anyone that might have any ideas on two issues I'm having at the moment with the ol ba mark2 1. The last few months every time after I fill up a full tank of fuel, for the next 3 or 4 days I can smell petrol as soon as im 5 metres from the car?? Hangs around for a few days and then as the tank gets lower slowly fades away. Vapour leak?? fuel line? 2. And more importantly. The other day I decided to really give it some and so I shifted into the sports mode and reved her out in first as far as she would go which ended up in the rev limiter cutting in. Ever since then if I decide to give it some and put my foot flat to the floor, it drops down to the lower gear and then coughs and splutters before really getting into the gear and taking off smoothly...?? What could this be? If you guys put foot flat to floor does it shift through the gears smoothly? I dont usually drive it too hard but im almost 90%sure it never used to do that. Anywas any advise would be appreciated oh and p.s. any ideas on how to fix a sagging front bumper? Chad
  9. Thanks for the replies. In the end I just changed the battery as quick as I could with the alarm going. Didnt take too long luckily. Yeah I tried all the above. - off first. didnt work. Rang ford and they said turn ignition to the second stage and that's how they change them if its a factory alarm. I cant even seem to find the siren or anything that looks like one under the bonnet so maybe it is an aftermarket one hidden away somewhere tricky. anyway all done now though, jus pis*sed off the neighbours is all. Cheers
  10. Nope. Went off as soon as I take off the terminal.
  11. Hey. Got a pretty urgent question if anyone can help I need to change the battery in my car. If I take the terminals off im assuming the alarm will go off. I have 2 little silver ford keys which I assume are to use when changing the battery. This may be a stupid question, but where do they go?
  12. If it is either of these two can they be fixed under extended warranty?
  13. Yeah to me seems that it was diagnosed as a blown gasket without looking at the car that much so I think I might take it to a site sponsor just to double check its not just the bolts and I'm not being taken for a ride. I heard the gaskets on these things are usually bullet proof and the car is definately not thrashed. I was told the whole turbo needs to come off.
  14. Hey Guys I'm not the most technically minded person when it comes to cars so thought id just try get some advice so I know im not being scr*wed. Just had my car in to get its pink slip today and iv been told I have a blown gasket where the manifold bolts onto the motor. Iv been quoted around 5-600 to get it fixed with the possibility of it running to 7-800 if the bolts crack or something when the works being done. They cant pass my pink slip until this is done. Is this common? Does it all sound about right?
