Hi all, new to the forum so Gday everyone. Picked up a 2002 BA XR6 Turbo today, manual, sedan with 162 000 K's on the clock, pretty happy other than a bad clunking sound coming from the diff between gears and when an and off the throttle, you can hear it worse at low speeds ie: when driving down the street. It also seems to shudder when the clutch grabs followed by the clunking sounds coming from around the diff. I got underneath with it neutral and the hand break off and gave the tail shaft a spin and I could hear the sound coming from inside the diff, I'm no mechanic but im guessing the diff or the diff centre is knackered... Anyone had similar problems? And what sort of cost am I looking at to fix it? This is my first Ford and I'm not real sure what the common problems are but from what I've read they seem to have a few diff problems, it's not a whining sound, more of a clunk at low speeds, either way something isn't right back there... The former owner said the diff bushes and diff oil were replaced about 6 months ago so I doubt its the diff bushes or the oil, Thanks in advance.
