What did you pay for your XR6T
I ordered mine for $49k neat. Specs below, I was told on Friday I 'should' be driving it by the 25th of this month

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Correct me if I'm wrong: It looks like the average price for after market tinting is ~$300 (compared to the $495 the dealer quoted me - which they dropped to $395 without me even asking) and the average price for after market paint protection is ~$300 too (compared to the $595 I was quoted by the dealer). If I can screw the dealers price down to ~$650 for both, it might be worth doing. I saw an XR6 with tinted windows today and I must say it looked pretty nice Has anyone else had any success in getting them that low? I went back to the dealer today to pick up my updated invoice without the tinting and the care pack and the woman went through the whole sales pitch all over again! I told her I wasn't interested in getting it anymore but I did take the opportunity to ask her what is involved in the "resin glaze" she was trying to sell me (again). She said it wasn't Ming protection, it is actually something used on Rolls Royces. It's definately not a polish that is rubbed onto the paintwork, it's a resin that is sealed onto the surface of the car. I still told her to take it all off but it left me a little indecisive. What she was telling me seemed to be what everyone here says is the way to go (but the dealer is still charging WAAAAY too much for it).

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Well it looks like paint protection may be the way to go IF it's done the right way and it doesn't cost the earth. I'm still keen to get aftermarket protection done, what should I find out before getting someone to do it? I know now not to settle for something that can simply be applied with buffing... Is there some kind of universal term for the right way to do it?

How good is the premium Sounds anyone?
Oh, it's a free air sub? Hmmm, that complicates matters... I'll have to custom make a box for my current 12" sub. Is that mounted in the rear parcel shelf? It looks like a 10"... Maybe I'll do some research on higher quality 10" free air subs that will run off my existing amp (no idea how expensive they might be, I've never really looked into the world of free air subs).

How good is the premium Sounds anyone?
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I heard the sub amp was installed under the front passenger seat? I have never actually seen the premium sound setup but it would be REALLY handy if the amp was in the boot! The first thing I'm going to do when I get my XR6T is transfer as much of my audio gear from my current car into it. Does anyone have (or can get) any pics of the sub/box/amp setup? I'm keen to see how ford have done it so I know what I'm in for...

Which Color is best?
Hey there's no Mardarin either. It's a new colour that has replaced Blood Orange - it's a bit darker than BO and it's also metallic. Not many around at the moment though, it looks like I'll be the first one in my area...

Tv Tuner For Premium Audio Icc
Hey, there could be quite a market if someone wanted to make these cables and 12V power supplies for BA Falcons (hint, hint). One of the things I'm a bit worried about with the xbox is the mechanical components inside. How does the hard drive stand up to road conditions? It sounds like a dead easy solution to get gigs of mp3's, dvds, games, divx movies, music videos, etc into a car so there HAS to be some kind of a catch

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Well, it's done. I rang the dealer yesterday and told them to jam the car care package and the window tinting (it saved me $2k off the price of the car for a start ) but the woman wouldn't stop going on about how I should still get the paint protection. She claimed that the dealership uses a "special" resin glaze that other dealers don't and that the $595 price tag is well worth it. I seriously doubt that anything they can do it worth 600 bucks! I eventually got her to take all of it off my invoice and I told her I would call her if I choose to put the paint protection back on before the car is delivered. So has anyone else heard the term "resin glaze" in their travels? How much does aftermarket protection usually cost? Maybe it would still be worth trying to screw the price for it down...

After market Alarms
voy74656 mentioned it in the last post on the first page. It just got me a bit worried but it's good to know the factory gear isn't affected on aftermarket systems.

Aps Stage 1 kit
Are the injectors counted as internals? They come with the new phase 1. I am also really interested in getting this kit (after I get the car of course  ) provided it doesn't screw my warranty...

After market Alarms
So do the Mongoose/Pirahna/Cobra systems bypass the factory imobiliser too? If it does, is it a big deal? I assume you would trade a one point imobilser (probably?) for a three point anyway (I don't know the specs on the factory imobiliser). Then again, are there any warranty or even insurance issues if you bypass the factory gear?

After market Alarms
I just had a look at the Cobra upgrade alarm and it seems to have all of the important features. How much did it set you back?
-
After market Alarms
So how much does the Mongoose upgrade alarm usually go for? Which would you recommend between them and Pirahna (I don't know much about Pirahna alarms)? The auto window raiser sounds handy....

I did it! My T has been ordered!
I haven't seen Mandarin on a car either (the colour accuracy on the ford website is crap!) but it sounded really good. I saw it on a little colour swatch at the dealership, it's a bit darker than blood orange and it's metallic.

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
So is tinting supposed to be included in the full care pack? The @#$% woman told me it was an extra $495 on top of the $1600!! I plan to tell them to stick the full care pack but I was still planning to get the tinting (I got them down to $395 but it sounds like they certainly weren't doing me any special favours :() I think I'll get them to jam the whole lot and I'll go aftermarket...

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Well it's pretty much unanimous. I'm telling them to forget the whole thing but I'll ring around a few local places on Tuesday for paint protection quotes just for piece of mind. If I find some place that will do it for ~$200 (and do it properly, ie heat sealing instead of using wipe on stuff) I will probably get them to do it.

What does your family think of your obsession?
I only ordered the T a week ago and I've already got a whole bunch of comments from guys at work like "you should have bought a house!" and "why would you spend $50k on something that is only going to depreciate!". There are two things I wanted to buy: A new car and an investment house. This is how I see it: If I did the so called "smart thing" and bought a crappy house (which is all I would have been able to afford on my wage) I could kiss the new car goodbye for at least 15-20 years. On the other hand, if I bought the car, worst case scenario is I would have it paid off and fully owned in 5 years and I'd be right back where I started. Except I'd have a head-turning T! My 2 cents anyway...

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
$1600 was for everything: Rustproofing, sound deadening & fabric/leather/paint protection. I am still interested in getting the paint protection on it's own, does anyone know how much it costs for Ford to do it? I'll get some quotes from other places in my area before the T arrives just to be sure....
-
After market Alarms
I guess the same can be said for pretty much all alarms. They are a pretty good deterent and they certainly reduce the chances of theft if somebody decides to have a go but if somebody REALLY, REALLY wants to steal your car, I think you can basically kiss it goodbye. I'm sure they'd find a way... Bastards...

Tv Tuner For Premium Audio Icc
Hey all, I just thought I'd check up and see how this project is going. After reading this long topic I am REALLY interested in installing an XBOX into my XR6T! Any more progress? Did anybody end up making any "ready to go" kits?

After market Alarms
I just had a quick look at the Sentry Mk4 mentioned by Scruffman and it looks like the same kind of thing as the Mongoose alarm I mentioned before. Does anyone have any more info on this Sentry system?

After market Alarms
I'm really interested in getting an aftermarket alarm that uses the existing Ford remote to arm/disarm. I don't want another remote dangling from my key ring next to the Ford one. I've seen them advertised but I haven't looked into compatibility with the BA. Here is one I found that is made by Mongoose. I have a much more complicated Mongoose alarm installed in my current car ('95 Lancer) with Ultrasonic sensors inside the cabin, it seems to work really well. I got them to hook it up to my existing central locking as well and it only ended up costing me about $400-450. I don't know how Mongoose stacks up against more famous alarm companies but it seems like a good option to me (if it works in a BA).

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Well, that settles it then. The sales guy is ringing me next week to tell me how the car is going and I will tell him to get rid of the full care package. Thanks for the great advice guys

Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection
Hi guys, well the topic says it all When I originally ordered my T about a week ago the sales guy took me into another office after we did the paperwork where this woman sold me on the idea of the "Full Care Package". It's a bit under $1600 and includes Rust Proofing & Sound Deadening the underbody of the car, paint protection (she said it would never need polishing and would never fade) and fabric/leather protection so they would never stain. I figured "hey, this sounds pretty good. It's worth it on a $50k car". I've been thinking about it lately and after reading some posts on this site about the full care package, I'm thinking seriously about going back to the dealer and telling them to jam it up their ! That said, I've also noticed a few people with the package listed in their signature so I guess there are at least a couple of people that think it is still worth it... Well, what does everyone think?

I did it! My T has been ordered!
I eventually decided to get it from Klosters in Hamilton. They gave me the lowest quote in the end...
