Ah thanks, Hmmmmmm....... maybe I should have stuck to getting an xr6 na, that way the mods would be too expensive to bother :S

If you go 6spd then you hear people telling you that ba's had weak engines and you need a bf then you need an fg as its built better.... This BA is 5 grand cheaper and the km's are much lower than any mark II I can find if I leave it stock are you saying I wont get away without having a transmission rebuild in the near future?

Yeh im not going to go nuts with mods as I would have been happy with a stock xr6 na, but just wanted that little bit extra, In regards to the 6sp I dont know how its set up I was just talking from experience e.g the stock S15 6 speed is weaker than the S14 five speed, they just crammed an extra cog in didn't work well.......

yea thanks, the cars only got 70,000km so I figure running stock power it shouldn't just implode I know only to well the amount of sh*t that is talked when dealing with cars so I take everything with a grain of salt, I feel that far to many people have no idea how to drive smoothly and thrash there transmissions to death

Why is the 6sp stronger in most examples they are normally weaker was they throw an extra cog into the same housing? Anyone else heard of the five speed failing with no mods??

Hey all, Just inspected a manual BA Mk1 XR6T, Im convinced the clunk in the drive line is normal now after driving a few. Only problems I spotted were squealing brakes, steering wheel needed alignment and it had a pod filter. In my experience pod filters act as hit air intakes and are no good apart from being a defect. So im ready to part with my money, and coming from hot hatches im very impressed at how they drive! I know the BF's have stronger internals but I'm not going to mod it past a tune up and only BA's were in the budget. I know there is a lot of argument over weaker BA transmissions, does this apply to manual as well? Anything else to look for before I pick it up or any last words to a former hot hatch owner?
