  1. Thanks for all the replies! I was armed properly when I visited my Ford dealer. The car was dropped in at 8 am in the morning. I showed them the above photos of the blade bushes. They said they would 'have a look at them properly'. On picking up the car at 3pm, they said they replaced the drivers side RLCA (rear lower control arm). They claim the passengers blade bush was within tolerances! However, on driving home, the car felt and handles like new again! Cheers!
  2. Gday all Just coming up to holidays, I noticed that when I accelerate up a hill will turning to the left, the rear end sways badly, and feels like I have a flat tyre! Ford has just performed one of their in depth services (not!), and claim that one of my control blade bushes had collapsed!. This was replaced under extended warranty. They also have said that one of my 'rear lower control arm bushes' (RLCA) had excessive play. They didnt have the time to replace it they claim. On driving home, I noticed that the problem was still very apparant. On getting home, I crawled underneath and had a feel of the drivers side 'RLCA'. It could twist it maybe 15 degrees max. I have also taken some pictures of the other control blade bush they didnt replace! Is this within Ford tolerances? To me it seems the bush is collapsed, as the pin which goes through the bush is not concentric with the bush sleeve? Could this be causing my swaying issues? Here is the new bush If anyone has had any similar problems, could you please make some suggestions? It seems I once again have to troubleshoot Ford service problems which I am paying them to find! FYI - I thought I would share my experiences with applying for the extended factory warranty The other day I thought I would look into the extended warranty program as my factory warranty expires in another 10000km's. I was well aware of the 'old swann' and the newer factory approved one. I am sure many have already read the above glossy booklet from Ford summarising what can be claimed etc. Under the 'apply' section of the booklet, all it says is to 'fill in an application form' (which is not attached to the Ford booklet btw). On ringing the hotline to find out how to apply, all they say is to see your Ford dealer (not all dealers are part of the program though) it seems not even they know where you can apply! I rang 4 dealerships around my area asking about how I could buy the warranty. Finally I managed to get onto a dealership around my area who were extremely helpful (I am located in south western NSW) and admitted the whole thing was disorganised, but said they had organised a few factory extended warranties for several customers. The deal is all Ford cars are categorised to fit into 4 categories. I received a sheet which has all the recommended prices for all four categories. Our XR6T's fit into category '2' and for the maximum extended warranty (extra 3 years, 100000k's) it cost me $1740 (they charged me what was on the sheet). A certificate was written out, and I was told to keep it with my warranty book. I made sure I asked 3 or 4 times whether I could claim unlimited repairs, at any ford dealership. The answer was always 'yes'! Cheers Marty

  5. Gday all I recently took my BF2 turbo on a trip down to Eden, and loved it for its comfort and refinement. However, I noticed when I went to overtake a car in an overtaking lane, I applied some throttle, and the ZF went down a few gears, revving at about 3000RPM. However, it refused to drop back into the higher gears once easing off the throttle? I gave it a few seconds to get back to a cruising gear, but I had to shift it into performance mode, then into 6th gear manually... Awesome automatic, still good in every way except for this issue. The vehicle is still under warranty. Can Ford reflash the computer to fix the problem? I have also heard that having two rear tyres (these cars with the 6 speed auto) at different tread levels can muck around with the auto? Any help appreciated Cheers
  6. Good news guys... Dropped car into panel shop on monday. Work was completed within 2 days, and scratch is gone. Looks like new again! Thanks guys!
  7. Gday all I took the car to the dealer today so they could repair the scratch. At the end of the day when I went to pick up the car they asked me "come have a look and see what you think!". The scratch was still obvious and a few new scratches as well as they tried to give it another buff!. The advisor then said " are you happy or would you like the whole panel resprayed?". The car is booked in for tomorrow for a few days at the panel shop... will send photos of the completed job. Good of the dealer I agree! They have been really good to me through warranty and basically adjust lubricate things like doors and window regulators for free (had some problems in the past though but all sorted, they know I mean business! ....)

  9. Gday all, A bit of an update today... Took the car in early before work. I left the car in their hands so they could 'assess' the situation. I picked up the car at 5:00pm, to have a service advisor approach me and say; "the service manager is taking the matter very seriously". They agreed that the scratch was made by them and accept responsibility. He also said he tried to buff out the scratch himself and also got a detailer to buff it out (which probably removed all the clearcoat...). It has removed the white mark but the scratch is still visible. You can run your fingernail through it noticeably. I also asked the advisor "what is the repair going to include?". He didn't really elaborate, but they wanted me to bring it in tomorrow to be repaired (certainly it would take more than a day to respray and do it properly?) I hope they just don't touch it up with paint. What do you guys think? Cheers

  11. Gday all, Just today I had my BF2 turbo booked in at a Ford dealership in NSW. I organised for a front wheel alignment to be completed as well as a wheel balance. I left the car with them for 5 hours. When I returned, look what I found! I am lucky I found the scratch that day, I am always paranoid about scratches in carparks etc, and usually check the car for damage... It was already after hours so I couldnt ring them up! The next question is, will the dealership accept responsibility? I have already sent am email with pics to the service manager... Has anyone here ever experienced something like this from a dealer? I just think its sad that I am paying them to do this work, and they cant even get it right! Not the first problems with this dealer either. Ive had my oil following a a service 20mm above the 'full' level on the dipstick. Absolute nuisance to jack the car up and through trial and error try and remove the right amount of oil!!!
  12. I use them, as well as a lot of other people on these forums. I bought them in bulk at my local autobarn. As far as quality goes I havent really pulled them apart to see how well they do their job... they are made in Korea. But try and find a filter that isnt made in asia these days...
  13. I done a bit of a search but couldnt find much... My drivers door moves as I drive along a country road, and in turn makes an annoying rubbery sound near my right ear as I drive. Really annoying! I sent it back to Ford and they adjusted it under warranty, but still no cigar. Silicone spray fixes it temporarily, but its effect doesnt last more than a day. Has anyone managed to find a solution to this noise? Sick of carrying a can of silicone spray in the car with me! Cheers
  14. I bought my July 07 BFII XR6 turbo October 08 with 22000km. It now has 59000km on it after 9 months. Car is going great, I always try and make excuses to drive long distance. The ultimate cruiser with 6 speed auto!
  15. I remember 2 years ago my brother inlaw was looking to buy a farm ute, and being a Expensive Daewoo fan went straight out and bought a new rodeo without even test driving! I think he regretted it 2 years later when the thing had 60k km's on it and would even go into 4wd mode for 20minutes of driving and sounds like the mechanics forgot to put on the tappet cover when they had the engine out to change the rear main oil seal the engine was that noisy!. Although same thing can be said for couriers I suppose... lol (heads, gearboxes radiators all failing). Most people who go out and buy toyotas just dont care about cars like we do and just want a reliable a to b car (fair enough!). There are many people I know that do out and buy a Late model camira because they think 'everyone else has one, they must be good then!' yet dont even know the difference between a tapered roller bearing or a single row ball bearing, axial or radial loading, or OHV and OHC engines, or even the difference between a straight six and a v6, yet claim that 'a v6 makes more power than a straight six!'
  16. Does anyone know why early holdens used those nylon timing gears? I have thought about it a few times but cant really understand! One would think it wold be better to use bakelite or even just plain old hardened steel? When I owned my XF ghia still, I walked into a local rare spares business in Wagga and was looking for pinstripes (red and metallic grey ones). I looked around the shop and had engine oil, diff oil, and some other ATF fluid, basically I was doing a full service. I then was approached by a salesman and I told him what I wanted (pinstripe kit for an xf). He literally laughed at me! 'we dont have any of XF stuff because they were ****y cars and nobody wants to do them up anyway because everything broke on them' I told him them that it had 300000 original km's and never blew a head gasket! he then said 'if it was an old Expensive Daewoo no worries we would stock them because they are more popular and people want to do them up because they are an 'Australian car' Nothing could beat the feeling of saying 'no worries looks like you can't help me then, dropping all the oil and other gear on the floor where I was standing and walking out!
  17. I agree about Ford needing to pick up their game in their quality control. They have not really perfected their interior fit and finish in my honest opinion. I had an ongoing problem for about 6 months with my dashboard creaking, and Ford only came to the party once I threatened to go to ACA. No customer should have to do this.... I bought my Falcon for a few reasons. I grew up with one, I think they are great cars to work on, and most importantly because it has some original Australian ideas which I like. The reason I dont like Jap cars is because there is just no real connection with this country! Japs just copy ideas and make them better (eg. 4wd systems). My only intension for starting this thread was a for a bit of fun. I didnt really mean to start a philosophical argument on what badge is better . Every man to his own!
  18. Hey does anyone know what causes the 'piston slap in the vx/vu gen3 engine? As I have a mate who gets it everytime he starts up in a VU ute.

BLK6T, that sounds a lot like my inlaws, they all complain why Falcons still use 'outdated' inline 6 cylinders, yet they are more balanced, more power more torque and better on fuel than a revvy noisy Late model camira v6. I think you'll find most decent Late model camira folk will admit the Falcon six is a 'good package'.... Whenever I try and say that the VE had all those recalls, I always get "at least Expensive Daewoo recall their mistakes!"
  20. my brother in law is this big 'Toyota/Expensive Daewoo fan' and always says to me, you should of bought a V6 aurion :wacko: 'that way you would of had less problems'....my reply was " yeah but then I would have to live with a fatal design flaw of a powerful engine in a FWD'. Can't believe he had the nerve to say that though . I also said to him once when he pulls up in his 1992 camry wagon 'do they make those things for men?', that usually stirs the pot
  21. Gday all, I thought I would start this topic as to see which of up cop it at least once a day for owning a Falcon or any Ford for that matter... I definitely get bagged at least once a day for owning my current car (a BFII Falcon) by workmates, family and most other people on the street... So what are your comebacks to those people who don't appreciate these cars as much as we do? Today for instance... We had training today and the trainer commented on how Toyota Prados have been recalled for cracked transfercases... someone just couldn't help themselves and said "Yeah well if you take your cars back to the blue oval they should be able to repair your brake hoses at the moment", "yeah that's what you get for buying a Falcon". I then made a comment about how Expensive Daewoo also had a fuel hose recall within the first few months of being released??? But everyone always picks on us? Anyhow what comebacks do you use to those anti ford folk?
  22. Gday all, I only noticed it when cold, but my BF2 Xr6T with 6 speed auto seems to have a rumble when I engine brake down a hill or when slowing down such as at a round about. It isnt loud enough to be heard on a rough tar road only the smoother type. Its loud enough my missus can pick it up!. I know Ford will probably say it is normal, so if anyone has any suggestions so I can put my case forward to them before my next service, it would be appreciated! Cheers
  23. Gday, I am interested in peoples suggestions as well, particularly regarding a tyre which has good life and is quiet. I have my second set of 18' dunlops from factory, and I agree they are way too noisy on the open road.
  24. Gday all, Just an update. Put the car on the pit today, and checked some suspension parts in the rear. Checked the control arms - the passengers side seems to feel a bit funny (resistance felt when 'twisted' by hand, but no play?). Drivers side control arm seemed to be normal, I.e firm when twisted. Torqued the Rear control arms to 105Nm. Checked the diff bushes properly. Used block of 4x2 wood to check for looseness in the bushes (not really sure what is considered normal). Drivers side diff bush seemed to have more play than passengers side. Centre bush looked good. Removed all contents of boot. Including spare tyre and chipboard. I drove down a straight road at 80km/hr, and steered to the right quickly, knock was present. But when I corrected my steering to the left, a creak was evident instead of a knock. Happened every time I tested it. Turn to the right, it would knock, turn to the left to correct, it would creak at the same volume. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? I know if I go to Ford for warranty, they will probably say its normal... Cheers
  25. Gday all, Took the car for a 500km trip today. The knock was evident when turning right particularly. I checked the centre diff bush visually. No obvious cracks or damage. Dont really know where to look next... Any help appreciated, Cheers

'
