  1. Well really its only 300 or so to put my car over the pits so pribs firat time rhru I mite see how mch I can get away eith.but I would really like some more info on this topic regarding actually getting the changds made.last thing I need is to get it over here and not able to drive it cos I dont have yhe cash to get it thru transport sa
  2. Yeh has to go over the pits to be regiatered in sa... I thought we wete supposed to be laid back in terms of car mod laws!!! And yes I do believe alot of the gear would be looked over but better to go thru once than two or three times
  3. Yeh I understand this.the bold writing in my previous post was what I asked transport sa and the blue writing the answers. the fact that a typhoin is borderlune luxury car and moat owners of an older age can do nothing but help me out.I would also get my fatherto take it through for me...its just the issue of how much it will cost.Nd how.much of a screwaround returning the mods listed in my previous post back to standard
  4. Hay guys I spoke to my transport authority fellas to recieve the following info. As expected, if its a stock standard car then it can just go straight through after a VIN check or something, but if its been modified in any way it must go over the pits and comply with the usual Defect procedures. Unlucky for me im not real too keen on purchasing a standard vehicle, I want to spend absolute nothing more on the car then what I purchase it for originally ( apart from maintenance/repair costs) I have made the mistake in the past with spending alot of money on my car and I do not wish to repeat this!I included all the mods of a car that I was looking at purchasing to see what I had to change. this is what I came up with Nizpro 4" Exhaust with the 5" bodied cat loudness of exhaust may be an issue? Could be - Nizpro 1100hp cooler Is this an intercooler for the induction system, if so ok provided not structural changes needed for fitment. - Hotside & cold side piping Induction piping to be as per Ford OEM - 72lb Injectors To be std Ford OEM issue - Walbro 700hp intank pump To be std Ford OEM issue - Xcal 3 Flash Box with 3 tunes ECU and all components involved in engine management, tune and boost presure to be as per Ford OEM - - Boost Gauge - Oze Gauges (10 colours with overboost setting) These are securely built into the dash Should be ok - Oil Pressure Gauge - Oze Gauges (10 colours) These are securely built into the dash Should be ok - 4300k Headlights & Fog Lights Should be ok - DBA 4000 Slotted only rotors Should be ok - Bendix Street Road & Track pads Should be ok - Whiteline 27mm Adjustable Front Sway Bar Should be ok - Front & Rear SSL King Springs Ride height? Minimum 350mm(F) 360mm® measured from centre of wheel vertically to lip of mudguard - Diff Bush replaced Should be ok - Trans fluid Flushed by Nizpro Should be ok - Rear spolier removed but have all parts to bolt back on they are only cosmetic so the fitment is up to you. Now im am no real car buff so alot of the above means very little to me, nor do I know how much work is involved in it. Assuming I had all stock parts I kind of want an estimation of cost/time/how much of a headf*ck returning the above mods to stock would be. I would leave the car stock for quite a while after getting it through the authority checks and then put everything back on at a later date. To me the biggest problems seems to be the ecu... I also recieved this from him Basically with a original ECU all the tunes should be programmed within this, so any alternative tunes would be piggybacked on to the ECU and not be legal. All this side of the vehicle must be as supplied by Ford or otherwise the vehicle would be classified as a modified vehicle and the emissions would have to be tested. This could end up being a very time consuming and expensive exercise. Any help/info would be great. From my very small knowledge base of what is going on in the above answers it seems like an absolute screw around to get this thing registered in a different state, but due to me having my heart set on one of these things and the absolute lack of vehicle choice in SA importing from interstate might be my only option
  5. hay guys reporting back!!!! I opted it was a bad idea to purchase this car.thought id sit back and save abit more cash...and TBH having that much power scares the sh*t out of me. I mean im by no means a terrible driver. or a real hoon driver. But I do like to stick the boot in every now and then and I have very little experience in controlling a car going sideways ( the last time I did it I crashed by car and ever since I dont mess with wet weather). The sheer idea of these things sliding out on me by simply applying the accelerator has got me really thinknig. ATM in my EF in the wet I can drop the clutch and take off, get massive wheelspin and the rear end starts to kick out to the side, gets worse if I shift to second...but after not 2 much longer it will just kind of gain traction and kick in and just go straight>scary stuff is over! I understand that these cars will take getting used to, im assuming everyone has had their scray moments when they first bought their XR6T or purchased more power . But I guess the process to take is to gradually step it up, learn how the car reacts and start at the lower end of the scale before we go higher. The last thing I want to do is to hurt someone else, myself or to write the thing off simply because I was being a retard! I was just recenetly approved the last little bit of finance to make my purchase on one of these cars and gonna be going after one with 300+rwkw.Im sure that will supplement me enough. Although the car has that much power I generally want it as a family car( in the near future) and for towing the boat. One question that ive been trying to answer and to encorporate into my buget is the cost of upkeep for these cars. Im budgeting an "Official" service cost of $300 per 5000km which would equate to around 4 times a year for me. Of course I am going to be putting money away each week for danger money in case something goes pop. Ive heard the bushes are one of the first thigns to go on BF's. Is their any other problems/expenses I should be looking at service wise? tyres? I try to look at worst case scenario, 1.5 sets a year...at $300 per tyre...im hoping! does this sound about right? thanks
  6. im after a reputatable car repair/maintenance/assistance company that is the equivalent to the RAA in Adelaide. Looking at buying a newish car interstate and would not be able to check the car out myself. Wanting to send one of these companies out for me to do a 100 point check
  7. simply said im looking at buying a modified car from interstate. BF typhoon,xr6 turbs I understand that it is a requirement for the car to go through an inspection at the transport authority in my current state to be eligble for registration... tried looking for the information on their website but to no avail. Just trying to compound a list of things that are pretty common that I would have to change to get it past inspection. Just assume common mods are on the car to make around 300 rwkw. window tint I assume will be an issue on a few cars being a modified car the exhaust noise has next to no chance to getting through? what are other common modifications that are made to these vehicles that may cause me dramas when going into the inspection
  8. I was 18 3 years ago...now 21 and going to be paying cash for my car( or for the most part)... and yes it is that bionic blue one on car sales... like I said in my first post...I dont really want/require so much power out of a car...but at the same time I cannot justify spending more money on a car to make it go fast+the missus would ring my ass. I want to buy everything already done to it to save cash. and getting one of these things sent over from interstate means going through regency and im assuming if something has over 300kw that's its gonna have to be altered to get it through. So having something like this appear in SA is a angel from heaven! Detuning it is definetly an idea...even permanently detuning it!
  9. been in the market for a typhoon over the past month and it seems most of them are interstate!!! finally found one in SA that ticks most of the boxes before I check it out but ive got some queries first. My intial plan was do by a stock or modified one with around 300-350rwkw.... I have litterally been researching these cars for the past 2 years as the day I turned 18 I set myself a goal to own one of this machines asap! all I ever here is the ability for this car to lose traction and just spin the wheels...at stock power... let alone at 300kw. now the real problem...( or is it) this particular car that has presented itself to me has over 450rwkw on a street tune at pump fuel.. this extra 100+kw ...wat does it mean?? is this thing just an accident waiting to happen on the street??? are the maintenance costs going to skyrocket??? is this thing going to lose traction at the single thought of giving it a little bit of power...im coming out of a close to standard 4lE series...the last thing I need is for this thing to tear a hole in the ass because I wasnt prepared for the power delivery. I really would prefer not to have the extra 100+kw on the car but the opportunity has come and I must consider!!!!
  10. Well my mate recently wrote off his xr6 e series and ive come 2 claim it for as many parts as I can get. atm im stealing the front bar, possibly the little bonnet vent things, standard xr6 rims, rotors brakes. now im assuming these will pretty much be a straight bolt on to my ef? 2 questions. I have been told that sanding down and respraying the front bar into a diff colour might be abit of a pain...is this true or should it be pretty straight forward? is their any other items I can pick off the car that will add 2 the performance of my car ( that arent an absolute headf*ck 2 get out). thanks
  11. Was looking for spend 25-30k. Japanese cars??? Well every1 has one...their all the same...little matchbox cars which you cant tow a boat with and cant fit more than 1 person in the car with you Insurance will be 2k a year...or less depending on how many strings I can pull with the oldies. speeding/drifting...well I know my fines in the past have made me change my ways. I have been on 1 point now for what seems like forever and I value my license and understand how hard it would be to get around without a car..drifting?? well I crash my E series some time back and since then I have realised the unpredictability of Wet whether. Now I will not even think of getting on the accelerator around corners...wet or dry. Making mind up...well no...im kind of in the inbetween atm. 25-30k is alot of money to borrow and does have me worried. But I was not thinking of taking this out for another 3-6 months wish I assume my financial position will only improve. Really mentioning my age as 19 I was expecting to get nothing but slander from older drivers about getting a powerful car ( Its the Persone of every P plater). Nonetheless.thanks for all the contructive critisicm
  12. Just putting a couple of Questions out their for people to answer...this seemed like the appropiate forum to put them in...il explain my story >< im only 19 (Young). Would I consider myself a good driver???depends what you mean by this... im confident with driving. Changing lanes at the last second is a breeze for me ( I do so safely)...and when I get in the car with other mates I can see that I am a better driver than them. But if you refer to drifiting as good driving than I am not. Getting sideways in the Wet/dry is not my thing. My first car was a commodore...I used to powerslide that around every corner possible...hoon up and down every street I could ( like every other Late model camira driver. But doing this I learnt my lesson...got done speeding one too many times and was forced to go to court to appeal my license. I can Gladly say I have been over a year now clean of losing a point on my license. Yes I still speed here and their...but my "Hoon" driving has gone away. I can safely say I am no longer known aroud my neighborhood as a "stupid f*cking P player". Now...to my main question. I have pretty much payed off my loan for my current car and I am looking into getting something newer with alot more go. In saying this I am totally against japansese car and will not go back to Expensive Daewoo after owning a few fords in between. What I am looking at is an Xr6T...looking for something 300+RWKW. Just like alot of other people. I want the power but at the same time not having to sacrifice comfortability and leg room...Towing the boat would also be an added bonus. Now really my options are really Xr6T or an Xr8...the Xr8 seems a bit more pricy and people say they are harder to get power out of. Honestly I have my Heart Set on the Xr6T Reading alot of things it seems that the Xr6T has alot of traction problems... now I want to know what people mean by this...Does this mean going along from 0-100 the car will be stepping out sideways...or just some minor wheelspin????...and if its just minor wheelspin...how does this effect the tires. I had my heart set on a manual...but due to alot of reading it has been percieved that they are quite abit slower...and traction will be MORE of an issue with them? is this true. Really all this car will be used for will be the occasional squirt off from the lights/along the freeway. Casual driving and towing the boat. I will not go near getting this thing sideways intentionally. Just wanted every1s opinion on whether they think I have enough driving exp...etc to handle a car like this...ive had my license 2.5 years...2 not including my L's. Thankyou
