Boost 98?

This may have been covered already but I did a search & come up with nothing.

Just curious to know if anyone has tried this new fuel from United & if so what if any differences have they noticed from their car/motor??? Street Machine have an article on it with some favourable test results. At 2c a litre more than normal unleaded with the advantage of making more power why wouldn't you use it?

I used it 4 weeks ago. It sounds good for the price, I agree. Only a 2cent premium for the premium when you pay 10cents a litre more at Shell.

Performance for me was comparable, I couldnt tell the difference. However, I got the least amount of K's from a tank ever with that fill.

I'll give it another go, but if I only save $4 or $5 a tank, I'll probably stick with Ultimate.

in brisbane my best results were with boost98

same as in waragal but where bp ultimate and mobil 8000 are available in vic that's the go

boost 98 use ethanol although it is carsenagenic and corosive this is normally only after sitting stagnant for a while so if going away next week the fill with other non ethanol fuel today to ensure no ethanol remains in the system while the car is stagnant!!!!

With ethanol being a known corrosive I'd be very wary of using it. Fuel systems can be screwed.

That is infact incorrect.

The natural rating of this fuel is 102 without the corrision inhibiters in it. They've had to 'over inhibit' the stuff to 'water down' the fuel and bring it to within the regulations for australian premium fuels; 98.

It won't corrode anything, even if you left it somewhere for 3 months, it just won't react while in the presence of these inhibiting chemicals... Infact, from what I've learnt about how they kept the fuel to within 1% of the 98 rating, this stuff has enough inhibiters mixed through to safely handle a 15% ethanol mix.

And this will really get you.....

A 15% mix would yeild a fuel that would have enough oxygen through it to theoretically be comparable to a 20hp shot of nos at WOT accross most of the rev range...

Yep, its good gear, and it should allow some pretty psycho timing advances....

that may be the case but from a tuners point of wview it wont allow me as much timing as mobil 8000 or bp ultimate but will allow me more than optimax vortex and the 95's

there is a test done on this fuel on the latest street machine very interesting indeed. compared to bp ultimate here in qld my car performs better on it and has less tendancies to ping.
