  1. yes I have been looking at pistons rods etc, ive seen forged pistons from 800 AUD each to 2500 AUD each, plus shipping but im going to see if I can find pistons here in the UK that will fit, I doubt it as its very much an australia specific vehicle but one never knows. any brands or parts youd recommend? how are they running on LPG? we had a lpg xr6 when I was a kid, no idea if that's still doable with the current engine and heads, my mate melted the heads on his RRS SC on lpg.
  2. yeah.... covid. that's the excuse for everthing now. yes I had thought about getting a t56 here and just getting a bellhousing as I dont really need to spend on shipping a trans for no reason.
  3. hi guys, so im currently starting a full rebuild/build of a defender 90 and am looking at doing a Barra conversion. ideally I would like it to be turbo as I am keen to see if we can push 350 to 400 rwkw. its been a number of years since ive lived in australia and last time I was home (2018) a friend was selling their old xr6t for like 3k, ive currently looked on ebay and cant find what looks like a decent engine for under 5k, saw one for 12k. have they really gone mad with pricing? my question is for under 1k I can get a not bad N/A motor, considering current costs, is it worth getting a NA and building it? whether I buy a na or a turbo motor it will be completely rebuilt prior to it being installed, itll be fitted with either a 5 or 6 speed tremec manual. the car is ultimately being Shipped to Panama in central America and this will be the first Barra in those parts. what would people suggest is the right road to go down? I am currently based in the UK so whatever choice I make once it starts the shipping process there is no turning back. all help or advice is greatly appreciated
  4. hi guys, so recently been looking into the possibility of converting a B series XR ute to LHD, ive decided upon a xr6t/f6 as ive got afew v8s and itd be easier to convert. cars going to be converted in the uk for me as that's where I work and I can check in on it. the cars end goal and destination is going to be latin america, panama in particular and will be used maybe once or twice a month for my mates charity car club meet. now I want power, enough to spank his audi r8 and most c63 amgs, and if im lucky a r35. (unlikely) so im looking around the 400rwkw mark, my debacle is the following, do I buy a roller of any B series xr model and buy a xr6t or f6 engine and zf 6 speed, what benefit will there be for me spending more on the fpv engine then just the normal xr6t. or should I just buy a complete car though ive seen many hitting the 200 to 300k kms. I assume to reach such power levels, im going to need a big cai, a bigger front mount intercooler, injectors, 4inch turbo back (will be deleting cat and 1 muffler as they arent legal requirements), tune obviously, performance plugs and coils, what other things would need to be done? do I need to do cams and forged rods and pistons, header? obviously valve springs as ive read they go at like half that power.
  5. t56 is pretty common, tremec t56 was a borgwarner which is all gearboxes is 90% of euro cars. much prefer the t56 to the zf I will upload pics of the mopars later, really just got them so havent done a thing to them
  6. thanks for all the input guys looks like im going to have to get a F6 haha will have to be manual though hate autos. I agree with the 5link being expensive but its on par with US prices for similar setups for my 2 mopars
  7. has anyone used one of these setups before? opinions on it
  8. my friend has an audi and well its not very exciting unless I were to buy sometihng like a RS6 which I couldnt insure due to my age. realistically I really dont want to spend more then £10k or 20k AUD as I still have to ship and import it, I have seen alot of autos for around that mark but im after a manual, hoping that cash is king and when I find the right one the owner likes that sort of money in green hundies. when it comes to handling mods I havent really looked to see whats around
  9. Exactly and in a country where we don't exactly have them it's really gonna pop. How do they handle? As I will take it to places like worthersee and other parts of Europe and roads can be winding
  10. Thanks guys. Yeah dual zone climate control isn't a huge deal to me how very interior would be though saying that I'm likely to get it redone anyway. Main deal is really the performance side of it all and how it looks from the exterior
  11. Thanks mate. Yes I have read about the ba's and it will most likely be a bf mkll I did think about the fg but for the price of a fg xr6t I can get a bf tornado. Though it is still an option as I won't be buying for a few months
  12. hey guys new to forum and just wanting to get peoples opinions on xr6 t vs fpv tornado. next year I will be looking for a new work vehicle/ toy, and have decided to bite the bullet and go aussie. originally I was looking at xr8/super pursuit however as I actually live in england and not australia insurance is murderous on a v8 at my age (23). so after doing abit of reading and talking to friends im very much considering a barra turbo. seems they make great power and can be reliable. my question is whether to go with a BA/BF xr6t or a similar year F6 Tornado, my biggest thing is that it is manual. I do really like the look of the F6 but is it worth the extra money or should I just modify a xr6t and do a body kit. im not looking to make killer power numbers as it need to be driveable looking around 300rwkw/400rwhp mark as id like to try make it handle to some extent. any and all opions will be much appreciated
