  1. yes I thought about that, however I am planning on getting it resprayed and im worried with the crack still on the front face it could eventually show up through the paint, although with a proper paint job and thick primer coat it should be ok.
  2. yeah I too was going to go down that path but from my research Ceramic Pro 9H is the only thing that I felt confident would be a permanent sealant that wouldnt scratch from day to day use and hold up to stone chips, bat poo ect. Only thing is its $500 - $600 for a professional to apply and I wouldnt trust myself to polish the car effectively prior to that so I would have to get that done by a pro too. That takes the cost up too much for me when I can get it 85% right for $300 and have enough to last about 5 yrs which is how long I will keep the car, especially since you still need to wax or use all in one over the top of the Ceramic Pro anyway to get a really deep shine. If I bought a car from new I would absolutley have it permanently sealed however.
  3. hey mate, good to know the hotdogs came in under 90 db. Hows the note compared to the straight pipes (if you know the straight pipe sound)? Im hoping its a deeper more rounded tone than the straight pipes.
  4. Hey mate, I just used microfibre cloths, not ideal I know but the result was pretty good, 85% swirl marks gone, ultimate compound isnt very abrasive so it doesnt cut that fast and requires a fair bit of effort if the surface is heavily oxidized. If you have heavy swirl marks I wouldnt recommend ultimate compound and Klasse all in one has no cutting properties it just cleans shines and seals.
  5. Hi, Could anyone recommend me a plastic welder in brisbane to fix up some cracks in my side skirts. Cheers
  6. Hey mate, I got good results with the following: Meguiars Wash n Wax > Mothers Clay Bar > Meguiars Ultimate compound > Klasse All In One > Klasse Sealant Glaze (if you want extra sealant protection) Wash 1L is $27 Clay bar $30 ish Ultimate compound 450ml $30 Klasse all in one $100 1L Klasse Sealant Glaze $80 - $100 1L So $300 ish but the klasse stuff goes a long way probs do your car 8 times for 1L and lasts at least 6 months before its needs doing again sometimes longer if its babied, if your regular with washing and apply the klasse every 6 months you will only need to cut and polish once. I think this is a great system and gives great results, or you could pay $600 and ceramic coat that supposedly lasts forever but you will still need to occasionally wax or seal to keep the shine.
  7. Hi, I know there is a zillion threads on this but I havnt seen any quoting DB readings. I recently put straight pipes in my BFII XR6T. The ADR 83/00 DB limit for the car is 90 decibels at 3750 rpm with the microphone place 0.5 metres on plane back from the tailpipe at 45 degrees to the outside of the vehicle. My results are: Stock Exhaust: 83 db at 4000 rpm, 85 db at 3750 is the cars official signature noise level so mine is perhaps a little quiet but ive never tested any others With the delete pipe: 93 db at 4000 rpm At the time of doing the readings I thought it was at 4000 rpm, I have since taken the straight pipes off because I didn't like the note so I cant retest that easily. Anyway the fine for 1 - 5 db over the limit is $200 - $400, pehaps taking the reading at 3750 rpm would get the reading down to 90 or 91 db but im not sure. As for the sound if your thinking about buying a delete pipe for $150 and having a go then yeah its way louder, easy to do and its pretty cool, startup sounds great, idle is kinda sh*tty bit of a truck sound, the sound when your putting around car parks ect is sh*tty too think F250, booting it up a hill or from low down sounds pretty tough and at cruising highway speeds there isnt any crazy drone although it is louder. So basically it might be just legal but is more likely just ever so slightly over the DB limit. If your young and looking for sound on the cheap then yeah do this. If you still want to be respected amongst responsible adults and still have bigger sound then get hotdogs put in or buy a cat back. Lastly dont expect any noticable performance increase, on its own this doesnt really do anything except add noise.
  8. Yeah I had wondered about the water spray aspect and the scoop... so you think the under headlight intake is a good idea as well as the scoop
  9. Hi all, I recently made a pretty nice scoop for the front grill of my BF2 XR6T to funnel air up to the upper snorkel and it works well. Below is the link of how I made it. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/90359-bf-xr6-front-grill-cai-how-to/ I have also made a lower box intake pipe similar to the F6 snorkel however I am hesitant to fit it up yet becuase I am worried that by making a 2nd hole in the airbox the ram air effect from the front grill scoop I made wont be as effective because the air box will have less pressure in it as the F6 snorkel doesnt bring in ram air only ambient air from under the headlight, therefore the higher pressure ram air may just end up excaping through the F6 lower snorkel. My question for the board is will I better off with just the front grill scoop, both under headlight and front grill scoop or running a pipe off the front of the airbox to the lower grill area then I will be bringing in ram air from the upper and lower grill. I would imagine the last option is the best but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  10. Hi all, Havn't been a member very long but thought I would share this with anyone looking to improve their CAI for free on their B series falcons. I havnt done the front air box mod yet but will be, this is mainly for people looking to improve their CAI without spending anything and not cutting their airbox. I used a piece of underbelly bash plastic like is used on rally cars but you can use any stiff plastic that will bend and hold a rough shape, even an ice cream container could do the trick. I made a scoop shaped ramp that exactly fits the curve behind the front grill so all the air that goes through the grill is directed up the ramp through the vents and into the upper snorkel. After doing just this ramp I noticed a slight improvment in responsivness and it seems to pull a little harder under heavier acceleration at higher speeds (over 80), I should mention my car is a BF2 XR6T, but this should work on every B series falcon. I also installed a K&N filter so that helps a fair bit too obviously but I would think there is still some merit even without the hiflow filter, as long as your paper filter isnt crazy dirty, maybe tap the dust out of it first. I have attached the template I used to make the ramp so you can print it out and transpose it onto whatever plastic you are using. I punched holes in mine and zip tied it in 3 places, each upper corner and the middle at the bottom and I taped the underside to the inside of the front bar to seal it perfectly. I also sprayed mine black. You can see in the pics you can fit it over the plastic bracket that houses the bonnet release or you can fit it behind, ive ended up putting mine behind as I though it was putting too much pressure on the bracket. The template is about 90% accurate so you may need to trim it down a little more than the template size is to make it fit yours perfectly, regardless of the shape you trim it to you will still need to bend and shape it to your liking, if you get really keen and have the right plastic you can use a heat gun to mould the plastic so it will hold the scoop shape perfectly, I was lucky because the bash plastic I used holds its shape after being bent without a heat gun. 3MM acrylic and a heat gun and you will have a perfect one that will never lose shape which is what I may do eventually, bash plastic is very good however. Cheers.
  11. thanks for the responses guys... 240 - 250 rwkw would be a perfect number for me... will the stock cooler support this? or would I be better off with an F6 cooler as my budget wont stretch to Plaz and Process... I dont really want to touch injectors ect...I am leaning toward F6 CAI, K&N, Venom Cat 100 cpsi and tune which will most likely be done by real Dyno performance at redcliffe (does anyone have any input about them?) and maybe F6 cooler if the stock one doesnt cut 250 rwkw... what thoughts can anyone give me about the above post... am I better off with a new cat or removing a muffler? Ive read all over the place that the stock exhaust is reasonable except for the cat. Cheers
  12. yea chances are very slim of ever getting it in octane... its already got the aggressor wheels and ide rather spend money on performance upgrades than repainting bumpers... if anyone knows of anyone willing to sell just the grey inserts for front and rear let me know as I dont really want to be repainting full bumpers... I know ftg auto salvage used to sell them anyone confirm that? They havnt replied to my email yet so im not hopeful.
  13. thanks for the info very helpful I found a black set at the wreckers but my cars octane might hold out till I find the right colour to save painting
  14. Hi all, Does anyone know where this body kit can be bought or am I best picking one up from a wrecking yard ect? Any info on how it attaches would be good too... like does the back just bolt up to the existing bumper... do the mini rockers on the front bar bolt up to the existing one... I know the side skirts are unique and different from the regular xr6 kit. Cheers
  15. Hi all first post new member, I have a september build 2006 BF MK2 XR6 Turbo that is bone stock apart from an earls oil turbo line and I would like to do some minor upgrades aimed at improving ecconomy, throttle response and marginal power increases hopefully at a reasonable cost. I was hoping for some input from people who have done something similar and their results. I dont want a huge spend either $1500 would be about it as I would also like to put the aggressor kit, wheels and GT wing on it. I have all the means to install this stuff myself as my old man is very cluey and has built numerous s13s and I can probably get trade prices through various contacts and may even have a contact for a custom tuner. Here is what I am looking at keeping in mind this is purely for use as a road car: - $200 - F6 lower intake with K&N filter (I may be able to get a growler kit very cheap if so I will use that) - $200 - 100 CPSI cat, I know about the o2 sensor, probably the Venom brand (are they good?) - I have the means to just buy the cat and weld it into the system (how much more benefit will I get from a full turbo back system, ive read that the factory system is decent and the cat is the biggest draw back) - $300ish - F6 intercooler (2nd hand) hopefully taken off a newish wreck (I believe its a direct bolt in? is it? and I can use the original piping although I will probably upgrade the piping) are the no name brand intercoolers on ebay for $170 ish complete rubbish? - $300 - Underdrive pulley kit (maybe... are they worth it? I can probs get a better price on the kit) - Custom tune - What would I pay from a place like east coast customs or the like im in Brisbane - maybe put the boost up to 8 PSI just for a bit more fun, I think its 6psi from stock Will doing the above garner me better ecconomy or at least the same ecconomy and more power if so how much roughly, as I said I dont wont huge power I just want it to be better than stock, what effect will these upgrades have on the torque? Cheers.
