I'm trying to change the oil on my dad's BA MkII falcon but I can't seem to get the filler plug off. It seems as if my socket is hitting the diff housing and therefore not letting the socket onto the filler plug.

I've done the job plenty of times on my own car and never had a problem. Is there a trick to doing the single spinner diffs?? Or is there a special tool required?

I guess that could come into it if nothing else works.

do they just drop the bottom bolt around the housing and fill from a bung in the middle of the rear cover?

I'll grab a pic on the weekend if I get a chance.

The drain plug is down the bottom of the diff but the filler plug is on the right hand side, about half way up.
