Site Issues & Next Steps - Help the Cause

Hi All,

 

Apologies for the dramas the last 48 hours. We have spent numerous hours trying to get the site working, after we moved it to a cheaper option to ensure that the site remains active moving forward. With the move we have managed to move to a platform which is only one third of what we were paying before , this will help us be around much longer, but did come with its teething issues, which we faced over the last 48 hours.

 

If you do notice any bugs / issues, please reach out, and we will escalate to the hosting team to resolve.

 

We have noticed a few issues though, which look to have contributed towards the failure's. This included us running a old version of software which has not been updated for several months, causing us to rely on old technology, which has now been retired to keep the site running. This was resolved this morning at a cost.

 

It has been a stressful 48 hours, and would if you do use the forum a donation to the site would make such a difference to paying for the costs incurred today, as well as set us up to look at managing alot of this moving forward to allow us to upgrade freely, and keep things still alive, in a cost effective manner.

Always happy to donate to this site when I can! I don't think any forum out there runs at a profit. Unfortunately, sh*t costs money!

 

Forums are a dying breed, and we need to do everything we can to keep this incredible resource alive for as long as possible!!

Thanks @biddie_fiddler. I don't think in the 20 years+ we have been running, we have ever made a profit, just broke even, as back in the day server costs, paying some people behind the scenes to maintain, and software upgrades, have always put a dent in it.

 

I am indebted to @k31thfor his support in working behind the scenes in upgrading, and ensuring the site is still around. Working on weekends, responding to emails, and troubleshooting problems, as they break. Keith is an absolute champion.. 

 

Thanks for anyone contributing, now and in the future. It makes such a difference.
