Roadrunner New Member 4 Member For: 6y 11m 7d Posted 12/05/22 06:10 AM Share Posted 12/05/22 06:10 AM I've searched and googled to death without being able to find an answer. I have a set of FG cams to replace the well worn cams in my BA turbo. Is the changing of these a simple in/out replacement and magic happens or will the car need a tune following? I run a haltech plug in if that makes any difference. Anything else I need to be aware of?

Injectors, E85, dump pipe, exhaust, bigger intercooler, etc etc. Cam lobes are badly worn and I have FG cams here. Just trying to ascertain as to whether I need to allow dyno time or just run it. I'd want to make sure that there isn't any hectic cam error before sinking the boot in. The cam position dictates fueling so it's important it all works correctly. If you've got a wideband hooked up then run it and make sure it's under 12.5:1 at full load. If not then get it checked. It's only $150 for a few power runs and that'll tell you if it needs a tune or not, and also indirectly whether the cam timing is somewhat passable. But yeah you can just chuck them in and drive it. There is no magic power unlock by tuning fg cams vs just chucking them in. Chuck em in, check the afr and boost control then send it.

Getting it to a dyno is a bit of a task when it's not registered.
