Hi Guys,

I received an aluminum oil pump assembly from atomic today with billet gears, backing plate etc.

I just wanted to see if this is normal. The pump housing seems to have small cracks everywhere. Are they just casting marks? Is this normal do they all look like this?

Correct, that’s how they look from factory.

Are the aluminum pump housings pretty solid provided they have billet pump gears and backing plate.

What’s the purpose of going to something like a steel. I am assuming this is for huge HP motors.

I guess my question is if the pump is re firbed with gears and backing plate the factory aluminum body is not going to crack?
