Hi guys, has anyone experienced a cracked rocker cover?

I noticed an oil leak and on investigation found a hairline crack at the small corner near number 2 injector. Guess I will search for another cover or get it welded depending on cost.

that's a super unusual place to get a crack, unless it's had coolant loss issues (e.g. it's over-heated)... but either way you can just get it repaired at a metal fabrication place for reasonably cheap if you take it off yourself and clean up the area that needs to be welded in preparation for welding.

Minor flashing after casting is present on heaps of parts. It is easy to mistake them for a crack, as that is what they look like a lot of the time.

Post a pic so we can have a look. @k31th will show you how :declare:

Yeah, very unusual and thought it may be a common fault. I’m actually a Ford trained mechanic but did my time way back in theXB/XC/XD days.

Just replaced water pump, idler, tensioner and belt at 203,000 kms and found the crack thinking the oil sender was leaking. 🙄

Got a small vid but don’t know how to post it.
