Hi guys, hoping to get some help here before I have to tow the car to Ford and spend $ if it’s something I can do myself.

Car is a 2012 mkii FPV F6, auto, 63,000kms roughly 330rwkw and very well maintained and not driven hard.

Problem - car is basically in limp mode with the following 3 hard faults - “trans fault, DSC fault and some times system comms fault” showing on dash.

Hard faults (permanently there as soon as I turn the car on now)

Seems to be in 3rd gear limp mode, doesn’t rev properly, has no reverse camera or backup sensors in reverse.

Initially it was an intermittent problem that would happen every now and then, usually solved by turning the car off and on again, or sometimes I’d re flash the ECU with my SCTX4 as the car is modified with a couple of different tunes. Now my SCTX4 is saying failure to download when I connect it to the car and I cannot alter my ECU or TCM tune, read codes etc. I have also tried my cousins mechanical workshops bluepoint scan tool to try and read codes while they are present (constantly now) and it is telling me there is no codes to read?

I have purchased a brand new battery from ford and installed - no change

I have purchased a brand new brake switch (under the brake pedal) and installed - no change

All my brake lights are working fine.

Prior to it being in limp mode the car drove and shifted fine.

I did install brand new 6/4 genuine ford/brembo premium brakes back in July with new fluid but from memory it had brought up the system comms fault and DSC fault once or twice prior to this.

My oil and coolant don’t seem to have mixed either and as previously stated before it went into permanent limp mode the gearbox shifted and drove fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Someone had mentioned possibly ABS module? Or cleaning the ABS sensors behind the brakes?

That will likely be my next step.

Thanks guys, looking forward to hearing your thoughts from anyone with experience in with said problems.

Regards Mat

From memory the dsc and comms fault can be a bugger as virtually any problem in the car can cause them. Have seen battery errors, grounding issues, fuel pump failures etc. Best bet would be an aftermarket barra specialist, dont go to Ford. Who tuned the car? - they should be able to trouble shoot.
