BOOST GAUGE ISSUES

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, recently installed some gauges on my fg turbo. The boost gauge installed was run to where the BOV taps into the inlet manifold (BOV has been removed) however im only getting a max of 5psi on the gauge and have tried another gauge which is giving a similar reading. The car was tuned to 17psi and runs a boosted 6662 turbo so id imagine I should be getting more than 5psi under load at the inlet manifold. Anyone have any ideas? Where would be an alternative boost source to tap into?

Thanks

sounds like you've got a boost leak... does it still go as hard as when it was tuned, e.g. frying tyres as soon as it hits boost? making a ton of dose noises?

Check if the hose or source has a split in it. Try another vaccuum source if necessary.

well vacuum will pinch the hose back together and maybe seal up a bit of a leak, but boost will blow it open (fair dinkum speculation here...)

anyway, still look for a leak if it's not reading correctly on two gauges... or go back to the tuner and get them to look for the boost leak.

it won't have vacuum, for one... two, it's not the same boost that reaches the manifold.

If you have a Bluetooth obd dongle or a access to a scan tool, you can read boost from the ECU.

That will tell you whether there is a issue with the gauge/sender or associated hose or if you really do have low boost.
