smoking on deceleration but not at idle

if you get smoke on even minor acceleration it could be valve stems... it's an expensive endeavour to get fixed, but generally cheaper than a whole motor to do so... just depends on how much mechanical work you want to pay to get done or do yourself. :spoton:
