Sorry if it’s been asked and answered but I couldn’t find it. FG xr6. I’m gonna do a full engine back exhaust, pacemaker 4490, 2.5” steel with hotdog and muffler. Making sure it’s only ever on 98. Do I need to get it tuned after? Will it make a difference or is it just a waste of money.

dont want to burst your bubble but a cat back is more than enough for some noise. full engine back is a waste of money.

a tune is a waste of money to. no one likes hearing it.

but a cat back, lower, rims, tint/stereo  etc and keep her looking smicko will be better money spent. spread the money out on more things than blow it on a exhaust and tune that will give you like 5kws extra.

If you want to make any more than stock power, yeah, it'll need a tune to take advantage of the change. If you just want to run it without tuning it'll sound better and maybe very very slightly change the characteristics of the power delivery but it'll certainly sound heaps better.
