Hey guys..  recently seized my stock turbo in my BF mk2 due to possible oil feed line.. just wondering where the best places to track second hand ones from? Ford quoted $2100 just for turbo and about 4 hundred plus for labor.. any advice or links would be appreciated.

hey mate have a look on gumtree can be abit of a gamble but should be like $600 ish for the turbo (secondhand, working). The labour cost from ford sounds about right.

Some mechanics I deal with are good at sourcing secondhand or cheaper (new) parts so it could be worth asking around for some quotes. Make sure to replace the oil feed line new, id recommend new bolts/studs too.

firstly, you'll want to be searching for a GT3582R instead of a GT3540 as that designation is mostly a misnomer... and you probably only need a CHRA (cartridge) that goes between the two housings of the turbocharger as that's the part that usually dies when it is oil starved... and as long as you don't drive it around for long with the oil starvation the housings should be largely undamaged.

Alrighty, thanks for the speedy replies guys.. another question.. the car is all stock only dyno tuned brought to 230rwkws.. would it need to be returned? If so would it be worth getting a set of second hand injectors if it's going to be tuned again?

as long as it's exactly the same replacement turbo then it won't need to be tuned to suit it.

if you get injectors then yes, you'll need to have it tuned to suit.
