Car is at the tuners and a new rear view mirror is on the way. Old one had a very small rattle which felt like it was behind the mirror itself. Pretty cool you can still get new genuine. 07c0315989d6a3350b5787f613004f01.jpg

Let me know how ya go with the mirror, mines had a similar vibration or rattle for years.Just tried gluing the lens to the frame.( No good.) So I might be buying a new genuine one. Don't mind spending the coin if it a definite fix. I'm sick of listening to the mirror vibration. The onlytime it stops is when I grab the mirror. And that's not a practical fix considering I have a manual.

100% fixed it mate, rattle gone. You pull your old one off, pull out the metal tab from it (you reuse this part). I glued the metal tab back up to the window with 2 part expoxy and let it sit over night. Then the new mirror slides on and is secured by a torque screw.

I found my one on rattled at idle as soon as I pick up the throttle, its gone. But still enough to warrant a change.

Thanks fellas! Appreciate the feedback.

This morning the roads were wet so like any upstanding adult I turned the traction control off. I noticed for the first time not only does the icon of the car laying rubber comes on but also the wheel spinning icon came up also. I could have sworn the previous times just the car laying rubber icon has come on.

My theory is, the steering is so crooked that it obscured the wheel spinning icon but would anyone be able to confirm if both or just 1 of these icons come on when traction control is turned off?208b28687c05c540d7cd90829cf160d7.jpg

It's been a few years since I sold my wifes BF N/A Falcon, but I recall her having transmission issues and a symbol on on the top left was a fault light. The one on the bottom right is traction control indicator.

Edit. Manual says upper left symbol is stability control, perhaps someone else can confirm?

as above, the top-left light is DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and the bottom right is the Traction Control light.

So both of these lights turn on and turn off when you press the traction control button? Or do I have a fault coming on?

Because both of these lights come on and off only when I press the traction control button

I'm not 100% sure as I've never owned a falcon with DSC haha somebody with one can chime in what it specifically does as I cbf looking up an owners manual to confirm :P

Hmm I might actually have an owners manual in the glove box. Good point. The thing that's spinning me out is a could have sworn the wheel spin light only came up for the first time today when turning traction control off. More research needed

I think it's a FAULT, you can only have Traction Control or DSC not both.

DSC is Traction Control with a bosch steering wheel angle sensor on the bottom of the steering column with a purple plug and probably some revisions of the ABS modules...

Look at the button where the fog lights are, it's a car going sideways not a wheel spinning, should correspond to that button.

I have had 2 BF2s (DSC) and 1 BF (BF) and both BF2s will only light up the top left button when pressed. Bottom right on the TC car.

Get it checked out...

Sorted, turns out it was wheel alignment related and something with the steering angle sensor making the car think its off course. Alignment done and its back to normal!

Taxis need alignment too..f83c493ece4d37cf2b60dd08929d700a.jpg

So during the week the car felt very sluggish and my boost gauge was only going to 7psi. I decided to investigate and this is what I found. The factory intake rubber from cross over to throttle body had given up, torn almost half way around. I rectified this issue by fitting a proper silicone turbo hose.

To my surprise the boost shot up to 20psi in low gears and holding 15-6 psi in 3rd. It is my understanding that the car was tuned while this intake rubber was in the early stages of failure and possibly not diagnosed. Quite concerning.

The car is going back for a touch up tune this coming Saturday and I will report back the results as soon as get them.

In other news I jacked up the car and did a full under body degrease and wheel wash. It needed it, built up crud around the k frame was the worst part. A messy and wet job but satisfying nonetheless.6b19f23af437e4c51533137517d7fa30.jpgd6ad061a6eb844b24ed7a332b662c288.jpgd70f9abcff2739577deef1fa1e453ae3.jpg

That could have been why it wouldn't hold boost when you got it tuned. You should get a much better result when it gets fixed. In the mean time take it easy and definitely don't let it hit 20psi again :declare:

Before it goes on the dyno perhaps get a boost leak test done for $50 at AMC Performance on Jedda Rd, just up from CMS, see if there any other leaks.

Those rubber couplers are the same ones used on the comp cover as well, might be split as well.

Also consider a cold side piping upgrade and some Murray Constant Tension Hose Clamps (Hot side Pictured - but you get the idea)

Did you manage to sort out the wastegate?

This may of interest: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bundaberg-east/engine-engine-parts-transmission/process-west-ford-ba-bf-xr6-turbo-intercooler-piping/1253914371

Hot side is $350 alone....

Appreciate the reply mate.

The only issue I have is lack of time atm. I just wont have a chance to get some decent cold side piping and a good cooler before the touch up. I was able to fit a silicone hose to the comp cover also so all of those connections are sorted. For now at least. The stock hot and cold side looks ok, no splitting or visible cracks but who knows how they will hold up in the coming months.

I plan to lurk on gumtree/market place and pick up these items over the course of the next few months and compile a well priced but good setup and have everything sorted before the warmer months arrive. I would like to eliminate the cross over and run something like a plaz stage 2 setup. I did happen to pick up the Process West under battery intake for a couple of hundred (rrp is over $450 I believe). Once I compile these parts I will also look at maybe fitting my 3582 or another turbo back on. Good things are being said about the Aeroflow stuff and perhaps e85 but I still dont know I am prepared to travel 30 minutes to fill up.

I am confident that there is no issue with the wastegate but the boost was escaping through the stock rubber hose. From what I could see under the car, the wastegate was working correctly so this should be confirmed on the dyno.

My guess is same power, but a flat torque curve vs the Mt Everest curve in the previous dyno graph.

Some more good have arrived and been fitted.. Illuminated window switch, Wuhan special. It works but the auto down isn't auto lol

Genuine camber bolts too.. My knuckle doesn't have provisions for these so I will have to track down a second hand set or work out a way to get them to work.

Finished up with a touch up tune this morning also.. Good I think, less boost more power better torque curve. Feels nice to drive, strong yet effortless when cruising. fa8d878ed62f0a286df8df5ba15befda.jpg6f321b965fdcf9738b534f2a59e1752a.jpgbab7307e58d411d945685dc7136edcc8.jpg

Been driving the wheels off this car, long way home, weekend drive type things and loving it!

Have upset a few expenses Audi's and some dude in a 'fully built' wrx.

During the week I managed to replace the idle and tensioner pulleys as they were a little noisy and fitted up the plazmaman hot side piping kit. Spool is a little louder and boost level appears to remain the same.

I developed a terrible brake pad noise from the bendix hd pads and switched them out to bendix gct. Bit of a bummer that the pads were brand new, bedded in properly but fkn noisy. Kinda happy to piss them off as they generated a huge amount of brake dust anyways.

Still procrastinating about which cooler to buy so see how that ends up in the near future.

I have also been investigating a new chra for my 3582 and came across Empire selling a genuine garret core for just over a grand. This looks like a winner for basic my set up and will line up with my current end goal. Does this look too good to be true? As everywhere else I look they are $1200 and up.

Quick and dirty taxi decal for the bonnet too, throws off people even further.

Yep looking at a genuine item only but even the screenshot I posted looks cheap. I don't think these guys would sell fake products its just several hundred cheaper than anything else I can find online.

Empire parts are legit but contact Rose Rage Turbos you will not be disappointed. My car goes in for another tune in a week and I'm running one of his turbo's I will put the results up here on the site. Good prices for any turbo parts and/or work.
