hi

was installing a new AFR gauge. got under the car to replace the sensor and noticed oil leak at the back of the transmission.

was going to take to to workshop to ask but there are close during the weekends and couldn't wait to find out why.

its 6sp manual with 430 kw

any clue how and what should be done about it.

what process are involved in fixing the leak or if can do it on my own.]

never touched a transmission before. don't have any clue.

cheers

It just looks like the tailshaft has been out of it and some fluid leaked around the coupling joint and then was inserted back in. Doesn't seem like a constant leak. Clean it up and see if the leak returns and if so, get a replacement coupler joint (yoke).

forgot to mention, I just balanced my tail shaft like 1 week ago and noticed this in there, asked them they said its  oil came out of tail shaft from removing it.

1 week later later and its still there. thought might be transmission. its reddish kind of oil.

thanks

yes, the red coloured oil is definitely transmission fluid

just clean it up and see if it returns straight away; that'll give you an idea on the severity of the leak, if there actually is one.

well, you'll need one of those (that suits your tailshaft) with a new yoke... depending on where the leak is actually coming from. I'd take it to a transmission place for them to at least diagnose where the leak might be coming from before you make any purchases.

Degrease it and go for a drive.  Then check again.  Oil will spray around with the rotation of the yoke.
