Lock nuts

Ok, so I had a tyre blow out(!) and changed over to the spare.

Got new tyres for the rear, the tyre fitter comes in after 30sec with his rattle gun and announces my lock nut key (factory pos) is stripped. Gee, I wonder how that happened after I’d just used it successfully.

Anyway, I’ve searched and read on here, there are 3 sockets recommended, a 7/8”, 18mm, 22mm.

Ive tried a 7/8” with no joy, although may not have hit it hard enough, but want a guide as to what’s best as I’ll have to go and buy another.

Cheers.

What wheel?
If your lucky you might have enough room for a bolt removal socket. Worked for the Hilux.

Also fark that tyre shop right off, useless lazy farkers, send them a bill for damages caused by incompetence.
Karnts.

Exactly. First thing I did when I bought the FG.

Have been so sick of tyre places stating that the lock nut keys were wearing out when they were fine the last time I used them.

Stop using rattle guns on them, dickheads.

Lock nuts are just a deterrent, as is explained by the ease of removal by the guys above, as they don't stop anybody who actually wants your wheels. Either store your car in a secure location (garage) or don't have quality wheels while living in that area (or move out of that area).
