Xr6T GU patrol

Hi all I'm pretty new to the barra world I've bought a 2009 xr6 turbo fg from the auctions with "135km" on the clock with further investigation ive found its maybe done around 300km, its going to be in a gu patrol with the zf box what should I be checking should I be doing a rebuild ? cheers guys

at that age, yeah, probably a smart move to pull it down and have a look at it while you have the engine and gearbox separated from the car. "rebuilding" depends on either condition upon inspection or your desire to upgrade at all.

Where is the 135k from? 

Was it a rebuild back then?

 

Might be a 300k car with a 135k engine?

 

Does it still run in the car?

Get it given the once over by a decent shop - might find out everything is still strong, or they'd be able to narrow down what should be done.

Hi Rab on the cluster it reads 135km but I found a service invoice with 289km on it in 2018 maybe they changed the dash just to on sell it as an low km motor, it still runs has a rocker cover leak which I just said its normal for its age

I actually typed in "dash change?" in the post above and got rid of it because that'd be stupid lol

cheers Rab theres a lot more question to come,in standard form what without thrashing it every day whats the km rating on the turbo motors have heard their pretty high as taxis use them, as for low down torque what should I do to beef it up for a 4x4?

The turbo's (FG especially) bring on the torque from early - and smooth

 

Will let someone else answer best tips for going 4wd with the ZF
