Dealer told me not to service my Zf 6sp - opinions?

Andrew... Gulf Western is what I was referring to and yes it should stay nice and red with a healthy trans

Yep Gulf Western it it now.

To backtrack a bit, the original question was about what factory Lifeguard looks like on a first-time drain.

Anyway, that container is the mankiest thing floating around my shed, with all sorts of engine, power steering and mower oil residue that it's been used for lately, plus dust and metal filings. In hindsight, posting a picture wasn't that helpful.

The point I was trying to help with was that yes, servicing your ZF is a must. I think we all agree on that!

Lol I didn't read any of the thread, I just saw trans fluid and thought, yep it's farked. Apparently everyone agrees :laughing:?!

 

I read that zf recommends 60 thousand km service intervals.

Yeah something like that. Silly then that the manufacturers say sealed for life.

The other thing we can agree on is that the Gulf Western oil smells like arse.

I changed the oil in my Transmission at 220,000. Used FEBI Bilstein fluid. Has done 62,000 since then , no issues. Mechanic said the old fluid looked ok. I did the diff at the same time, he said it looked sh*thouse. Used Penrite synthetic for that.

Yes they will as it is a sealed for life unit and it doesn't need to be serviced according to for. Interesting how the warranty period for all new Ford vehicles collected from 1 May 2018 onwards is 5 years/unlimited km*. Any new vehicles picked up prior to 1 May 2018 are covered by the 3 year/100,000km (whichever comes first) Warranty*.

 

No faith in the falcon ford?
