inb4 massive debate

been covered millions of times on forums though end of the day it doesnt matter basically the same engine mate.

slightly different turbos that make the power difference.

OK thank you.. So we intend to rebuild the motor how would we know what parts to order if typhoon or xr6 turbo..

Ford was no help to my son as the car was a rear end ride off and they told him to find out what motor it was they need details off the car is that right?

rebuild back to factory spec?

Rebuild + more power

One or the pistons not very happy had a blow by. Iv rebuilt old school cars XD,XE etc

All we have is a bear motor nothing on it...

Just a project for me and my son then we will find a car to put it in..

Won't matter - other than being able to say "it's an F6 engine"

Do you know what model/year it came out of?

I think??? there were a couple of overlaps where the F6 got rods or pistons?? before the XR6 did??

Make sure sump (what else on a long motor??) matches the car/model you want to (or hope to) throw it into so you don't have to do twice.

get a rebuild kit from atomic for eg, do all the usual engine building things like machining etc then go for your life.

the f6 got very very slightly thicker or heavier pistons than the xr (I think for FG range unsure about earlier), the f6 did not get forged pistons. all lies.

seriosuly dont even know why ford made the difference just to let the f6 have more boost and bigger turbo. considering most people double the rwkw figuers from factory anyways hahaha I know I did.

The block has to have a engine no. on it, that will give you the VIN of the car it came out of (just add 6FPAAA to the frount of it) Just be aware the block has to have the dipstick hole in the right position to match your car (ba/bf at the frount, fg at the rear) or your drilling a new hole for it. I agree with everyone, while your there chuck some decent rods in it at least,if you don't & kneed them down the track- another rebuild to put them in. Kinda makes it cheaper to put them in now
