Nothing agaist the hurst stick, but I think it is too long. I like the short shifter for the short travel of the lever and how low it is too.

I know it is just two bolts, but I think I am just going to order the black gear knob. Trying to figure out if there is an Australian hurst page and not the american page.

The Hurst stick that arronm posted is lengthend. I have done the same with mine. Out of the box they are exactly the same length as the stock one. I lifted mine approx 3inches 62baf4a4535fce4ce0a80a0fa3b887a8.jpg

The hurst gear stick will be okay for ba/bf. The hurst stick sits parallel to the hear stick.

with the FG they rotate 90 degrees which means the FG gear stick does not match up to the hurst stick.

Which shop did you guys buy your gear from?

This one should do the job, but I don't think the thread will match

If you just want to change the knob check this selection

https://core-shifters.com/collections/6-speed-knobs?page=1

If arronm's assumption is correct and FG thread is also M10x1.5 then buy this, has correct gear config for our cars

For the hell of it I'm making my own gear stick, using a bit of 25x10 stainless flat bar hacked and bent to shape/size with an M12 bolt (less the head) on top

Will mirror polish the section you'll see and weld a gusseted flat bar offset  on the bottom to suit FG 90deg lever position

I'll post up pics when done

I <3 Bananasen legend..... that was my missing link to finding what I wanted.

m10 x 1.5 has opened a world of listings now

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Aluminum-5-6-Speed-MT-Manual-Gear-Stick-Shift-Knob-Lever-Shifter-M8-M10-M12-/272463467193?hash=item3f701692b9:g:nZoAAOSwImRYOSQB

This is an alternative option, but with no gear identification.

Another good one.

The first search I did in google was this

6 speed gear knob m10 x 1.5

I had more listings of the wrong configuration. The reverse gear was in the wrong place.

Then I changed it to this

6 speed m10 x 1.5 gear knob T56

This had better results but still was not what I was after.

That made me laugh, but with kids in the every so often, they would soon ask what the 6th gear meant.

I can't let that happen.

A lot of options are now shoing up, which I am more confident in ordering. Still alot cheaper than the $79 gear knob with $20 postage from the usa.

The main thing now, was finding a place that would accept paypal.

thanks for all your help guys

This is a Hurst setup I sourced through Mal Wood. Was 3 or 4 years ago, but his price was competetive compared to importing myself.

Sorry, no idea about part numbers. There are 3 components - an adaptor block, the stick, and the knob. Can mix and match whatever you want.

The adaptor block is steel and can transmit a lot of noise. Whatever you choose, use some rubber or leather between the block and shifter to decouple the noise.
