F6 699

My F6 sh*t itself

Recommended Posts

Was driving towards Port Pirie....... nek minut temperature goes through the roof. So I turned it off, grabbed a rag and carefully started reremoving the cap and pffffffft :censored:

I checked the dip stick and there's no oil so I'm guessing head gasket :pain:WfiaNTk.jpg

Check the auto fluid. If it's the same colour, then you've milkshaked the auto. Otherwise, you're right, it's head gasket.

The milkshake would be more red coloured if it came from the trans cooler.

That combined with no engine oil kinda gives it away to being a head gasket rather than a trans cooler failure.

I'm with RAA. They towed it to Port Pirie. I'm back home in Whyalla.

I'm gunna ring the Ford dealer in Pirie in the morning cause it's only 2 months out of warrantee

Yep definitely worth a check.

After a while it's probably just worth replacing the trans cooler anyway given their propensity for failure and the fact that they are only a couple of hundred bucks to buy.

2 months out of warranty your gonna have a really hard time getting them to come to the party im afraid.

unless it has full dealership service all on time and per schedule with a bone stock car you may have a 1% chance they will help.

good luck

If it's any consolation and you can spanner it yourself, optimistically there will some if not plenty of change from a grand depending on the failed parts.

"Out of warranty" does NOT automatically mean it should not be fixed by the manufacturer....

so if its the f6 engine oil cooler that has failed then is it possible that this is a simple fix?

if the coolant didn't get into the motor that is.
