NOT QIK - FG XR6T Manual Ute

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I wanted to make a build thread so here goes....

I have had this ute since February 2011, bought it second hand with 21,000kms on it and drove it as a standard ute for a while.

I did a few small things to it, put some springs in it and changed the intake, nothing major at all.

Then decided at some point that it wasn't enough, so added a few bolt on goodies...

This consisted of;

  • GTX35 with external gate
  • ID725 injectors
  • PW Surge Tank with 044
  • PW Stage 2 IC
  • NPC Heavy Duty Clutch
  • Atomic Valve Springs

This was good enough to make 507kW at the wheels, and run an 11.75 @ 119mph with a 1.62 60ft.

I should have probably been pretty happy with that in a fairly middle modified manual ute...

But then for some reason, on the 18th October 2012, I decided to pull the engine out to make some more power.

...

So four long years later and the engine is complete and in the car, the car is yet to be tuned but the aim will be somewhere between 850-900hp (630-670kW)

The list of modifications has grown, my bank account has shrunk but I am sure it will all be worth it when I get to drive it.

Engine built by Colin Lloyd @ Headsense

Atomic 16mm main cap girdle

Mint!

Whens the tune? We want results :D

It will go on the rollers this coming Wednesday/Thursday and then I need to give it a bit of a run in before we give it a final tune.

I can't compute ID725's and 119mph and equal 507rwkw, maybe 407..?

Or maybe I don't know sh*t, always possible. Any case, love ya work.

501rwkw @16psi today

I will put a few kilometers on the engine and then back for a massage and some more boost.

Have a few little things to iron out with the exhaust location and an issue with a very long brake pedal but I'll get that sorted.

Very happy with the progress so far

@samhouston

Not to take away from your current build but I re-read the first part of the thread again before and took notice of this

1.62 60ft.

Assume mt et streets and a hard launch?

Pretty stout effort there in a manual!

Nice

That'll get you 14th on this list at least

Thread is an interesting read, not so many manuals T's out there making decent passes with the extra effort it takes

If you can grab a 1.6 60 footer with your new tune you'll get some sort of 10 for sure

Spiro's old car will live again, very soon. I've started working on my car  again also. So, thete will be a  few more additions to the  list.

Gave the ute some love today with the clay bar and a fresh wax. I'm not actually after a perfect paint finish so I'm pretty happy with this.

It goes back on the rollers in 2 weeks as well, so 30psi and away we go!

What an epic build. The small battery solution for the turbo side intake is simple genius. One small one up front and one in the boot might be a win for those of us with a few amps to run :idea31:

Clint gave the tune a touch up today. Made really good progress until we got to around 27psi when we started to run out of turbo. Still happy with the result, plenty of power for a street car ?

Sam this build is epic on all scales!!

Can only imagine how small your acc is now....

how does it feel?

Much lag?

Guessing it wont be a daily? Mind blowing power mate very very impressive effort to all involved.

And again FARRRRRK MEEEEEEE

I have taken over 4 years to finish it so I have spent plenty but its spread out which makes me feel better about myself.

It is a little laggy on this tune, but I have a 24psi tune which makes 810hp which hits boost a lot earlier, making around 600hp at 4000rpm.

At the moment it is my daily, but the novelty will wear off and I think the country will run out of E85 if I keep driving it everyday!

Pretty pumped on the result at the moment though :):)
