It will get a bit of flow there. Its also a large cooler so should be right for temp. My cooler is half the size with a fan and only gets up in temp in traffic. Probably should of just went the large cooler lol.

Oh I see, So the cooler doesn’t need direct airflow to cool enough?

An oil cooler uses the same principal as a radiator, which is convection.   As we know a radiator without a fan that is in a stationary car doesnt work on much convection, only mostly thermal radiation , which isn't very efficient.

So what do you think is the answer to your question.

2009 G6ET, put a Derale 7000 Oil/Trans Cooler Kit x Large #13205 which is a 10 pass derale 1/2 inch cooler behind the intercooler after moving lower rad mounts back about 10-15mm. 1/2" hosing with 1/2" fittings into side of trans. Its a big cooler and gets to about 58-60 degrees max on the pan, shifts fine and cant fault it. Have fitted same one to 2 BAs BTRs with no issues either, spacing lower rad mounts back each time.

Read a few posts above - fit a fan. I'm all set to fit one to my FG - using a fan with a thermostatic switch so that the fan only kicks in above a certain temp.

Do you guys rely on air coming through ic etc and going around corner through trans cooler when you mount them behind fog light, have you made any ducting to direct air to the cooler?

I fitted one to my xr6t and you don’t need a fan or direct airflow, I have towed a 1600kg caravan over 1200 kilometres with no trouble at all,
