Is the extra RAM worth the extra $400 bucks?

Worth it? Nah - not unless you're going to be running some ridiculous resolution or screen real-estate

Nice to have? Yeah, sure - given that it's part of the most powerful GPU you can get at the moment.

A <1050 may be all you "need" for all your PC usage - in the same way that a Corolla is all you "need" for all your transport usage.

Pay the extra if the feeling in the testes is worth it to you - bearing in mind that there'll always be something cheaper and more powerful around the next corner.

(that said - if the ti's were out when I got my 1080's I would have gotten them instead - even if it wasn't "needed")

This is how I feel

when I buy this sort of thing I want the best of the best

The GTX 690 is now 5 years old, it was the best of the best when I bought it back in 2012

$260 per year to own it, use it and overclock it

and it "was" still smashing the frame rates out at ultra settings (albeit at 1920 x 1080)

I had a quick look at a comparison of the 1080 vs the 1080 ti and in synthetic benches the ti kicks but by 25% across the board

So its the ti for me :gaming:
