Welll the plot thickens.. no more bubbles in rad and not using water, but still rough idle (literally engine shakes a little) and slight misg at idle and light load. and hearing a knocking sound from the head.

Could timing chain issues be causing this? and easy way to check?

Sorry for the Derail OP. And good advice puff and ralph

Get the cooling system checked for exhaust gas. Will cost stuff all.

If a plug is fouled from engine juice then it will miss and also not create the bangy bang that makes bubble bath in the radiator hole.

p0356 points to a faulty coil which adds up with the engine shaking.

engine shaking exacerbated by possibly flogged engine mounts?

lost/losing coolant due to pin hole in heater core?

just my 2c on what could possibly be going on here, I'm no expert on diagnosis/mechanical stuff as evidenced in my thread in the 300+ forum however.

Faulty coil/plug

Essentially its a misfire and blaming the coil/plug

And 175000kms old engine mounts haha.

Pin hole in heater core would leave trace coolant.

Much confused

Just now, MattyP said:

yeah I would be confused too, it kinda makes my cars problems sound less serious sorry!

I hope for your wallet's sake it's not a head gasket or any major $ repair.

Cars are bloody expensive!...I have to get the rocker cover ripped off my engine tomorrow for a P1385 (camshaft position actuator) fault code. Obviously 'll get them to look at the wiring to the actuators first.

You might have to throw in the towel like I've done and just book it into the mechanic.

Better start checking then mate.

Get the radiator gas analyzed if you suspect the head gasket and the radiator is bubbling.

I paid $25 last time I had it done.
