I wouldn't mind giving data wiring a crack...but coz of the vaulted ceiling in the living area there's no way to get through the middle of the house...so would be interesting trying to get a cable from the front to the back.

my place had vaulted ceiling too, had to run the cable as close to where I wanted then around the floor the rest of the way.

the termination of ethernet cables in itself isn't hard at all. Its routing the c@nts through the house that's a huge pain the arse 🤣

Do it in winter, the roof is much more pleasant 🤣

My brother is in the process of building a house, plans to have ethernet ports in every room and wants a server rack installed. I'll be doing the network side of things once the wiring has been put in place. Sure as sh#t ain't doing that part 😋

Vaulted ceilings look great, but are a pain for adding stuff down the track. I pulled the skirting boards off and ran the cables between the floor and the plaster at my sisters house that had vaulted ceilings. Pro tip is it not stuff a 6RU rack in the linen closet without a rack fan and temprature sensor though.

Ahahaha yea nah that won't cut the mustard 🤣
His house will be FTTP so the plan is to have a vertical rack mount unit in the garage on the wall. Will try get all the NBN crap into the one wall mount cabinet along with the modem, router and switch.

He's getting some WAP (ubiquiti WAP) around the house for his wifi. Should be a pretty baller setup I reckon

did same same to my house when we did a reno about 9 years ago

put extra in my study and lounge room

never enough  :hammerhead:

had to steal a couple from the bedroom (common wall with loungeroom)

always put in double what you think you might need

its only some extra cable after all

and cable is ALWAYS more reliable than wireless :bopp:
