How did you not get the red screen off death? We had to run 5th on that dyno with a quick ramp time to prevent reaching the torque limit, then in 5th we were hitting the hub speed limit.

Spools like a boss though haha, well done!!

Yeah, 4th gear on low boost (16psi) stopped the dyno. Ended up running in 5th with fast ramp rate. Didn't hit the speed limit, turbo was maxxing early so stopping run at 6400rpm, I think road speed was about 275kmh.

Yeah cool, actually the RPM limit may not have been the hub limit but the vehicles speed limit that I had to then disable for 5th. How good are those EFR's, the car I was referring too now has an 9180 also.

This had an EFR9180 at first, but over revved the turbo and the turbine came off at Racewars, So now we have this EFR9174 which is good for 145,000rpm and a speed sensor fitted wired into the Motec dash..

EFR9180 is good for around 115,000RPM. This turbo is current getting around 105,000rpm at the current power level.

Interesting, I've never heard of the 9174, it's obviously using the smaller EFR8374 turbine. It's on a 1.05 a/r rear?

I wouldn't think this is a readily available turbo either! Bugger I didn't see you at Racewars, I would have come and said hello!

Yeah, it's basically a hybrid of the 9180 & 8374. Still has the 1.05 rear housing, just machined to suit the 74mm wheel.

When it broke, we sent the data logging off to Turbotech who gave it to Borg Warner USA. We didn't have a speed sensor them. They said the turbine was doing around 150,000rpm when it broke off.

So they sent this turbo back for us to try and a speed sensor.

We had a pretty bad year at Racewars this year, the xr6 broke Saturday arvo on the 800m and the fg gt broke the diff bolts Sunday morning on the 800m.

We did a lot better the year before when we still had the low mount GTX3582 on, ended up being the 2nd fastest xr6 ford on the 1000m.
