Peoples thoughts please

08 FG turbo ute with 78k on it with 300kws runs high 11s@117

Manually shift no real problems.

Leave in drive and it flares between 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th,just normal driving, light throttle.

Does not do it all the time, hot, cold no difference

Been told this is the first signs of it going to sh*t.

Have had a service, filter clean, pan clean.

Yea sign of wear on the clutches I believe, won't do it on the manual shifts because shift points are increased so doesn't allow for the flare.

A good zf tune will help reduce this from occurring further

In saying that, still potentially a lot of life left in the box

Flare is more like momentarily having neutral, once it does get into gear feels fine. Mine has the slightest flare 3rd to 4th sometimes.

Sometimes it can be just a little down on fluid, doesn't take much to make a difference. Sometimes they are just farked.

Prices I have gotten for a standard rebuild, range from 3 to 5K.

The last quote I got was between 3.5 to 4K...apparently this guy does allot of work for the Ford Dealerships...

He was saying something about putting better "self lubricating" bushes...and he uses brand new solenoids too...(apparently others use refurbushished or second hand...)...Oh and he uses genuine ZF oil...

He mentioned some other stuff too, but I had no idea what this guy was talking about, but it did sound quite impressive though...lol
